The inclination to please broadcasters is evident in that India play England and Australia, the only two other boars who are monetarily in a good position aside from India, in a large chunk of these matches scheduled.
39 of the 88 matches proposed will be against these two cricketing powerhouses – Australia and England. This will make a clear shift from India to playing the big nations more often at home in a cycle compared to before when Asian neighbours Sri Lanka would get multiple series.
The home cycle begins with eight high-octane matches against Australia, including three ODIs in September and five T20Is in November. The excitement reaches its peak with the World Cup scheduled for October and November, sandwiched between two Australia series.

Australia's reappearance at the opposite end of the cycle features five Tests in January-March 2027, accompanied by three ODIs and five T20Is in November-December of the same year. At the other end, England play five Tests during January-March 2024, and will also return a year later for eight white-ball encounters—comprising three ODIs and five T20Is—in January and February 2025. The cycle ends with one marquee Test series that will be part of ICC's World Test Championship—five Tests against England starting from January 2028.

Australia and England are mouth-watering prospects for the broadcasters seeking media rights although that it happens either side of the World Cup could affect sponsor budgets.
Aside from the two big powerhouses, India will also play Sri Lanka wat home in December 2026 (3 ODIs and 3 T20Is) and Afghanistan (1 Test and three ODIs) in June 2026, which will be their second visit in the cycle.
South Africa will play two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is in November-December 2025. New Zealand, meanwhile, have three Tests and eight white-ball matches scheduled in the latter half of 2024 and early 2026.
