The third edition of The Hundred is all set to begin on August 1 as eight Men's and Women's teams will compete for the ultimate glory over next 27 days.
The Men’s and Women’s competition of The Hundred will go along side by side. Trent Rockets are the defending champions in the Men’s while Oval Invincibles is the only team to win the competition in two years in Women’s.
Southern Brave won the inaugural edition in the The Hundred Men’s competition.

Defending champions Trent Rockets will lock horns against Southern Brave in the opening match in both Men’s and Women’s competition at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. As far as the format of the tournament is concerned, all eight teams will play against the other in the league stage.
The team ending at the top of the points table at the end of the league stage will make it to the final directly while the second and third-placed teams will face off in the Eliminator on August 26. The summit clash is scheduled to take place at Lord’s in London on August 27.

As far as the Indian players are concerned, among Men, no player is taking part from the country. However, in the Women’s competition, four Indian players – Smriti Mandhana (Southern Brave), Harmanpreet Kaur (Trent Rockets), Jemimah Rodrigues (Northern Superchargers) and Richa Ghosh (London Spirit) will be taking part in the tournament. England and Wales Cricket Board had tweaked the home season immensely to make sure their key players were available. Accordingly, Men’s and Women’s Ashes will conclude exactly before the Hundred commencement and all the main players will be available for the tournament this time around.

The Hundred 2023 live telecast in India – Where to watch
Like the first two editions the rights of The Hundred live telecast in India are with Sony Sports.
They have announced on their official Twitter handle that Sony Sports 5 channel will live telecast The Hundred in India. The tournament was telecast on the same channel in the last two editions as well.
Meanwhile, The Hundred 2023 live telecast in India is also available via streaming on Sony LIV app and Fancode. Both the platforms have the rights of streaming the tournament live.
Format of The Hundred?
For the unversed, the Hundred is a unique format where an innings comprises of only 100 balls and it is considered a form of white-ball cricket only. Each bowler can deliver a maximum of 20 balls in an innings while a bowler is allowed to bowl either five or 10 consecutive balls. The change of ends happen after every 10 balls. In The Hundred, the powerplay lasts for up to 25 balls when only two fielders are allowed outside the 30-yard circle.
Interestingly, if a bowler bowls a no-ball, then the opposition team is awarded two runs and the following delivery is also a free hit. Like in international cricket, the over-rate is strictly followed here and one fewer fielder is permitted for the amount of overs left in the stipulated time.
