New Zealand vs Netherlands, Match 6, World Cup 2023

Monday 9 October, 02:00 PM IST, Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad

The New Zealand team started their Cricket World Cup 2023 campaign on a bright note, securing a massive nine-wicket win over defending champions England.

Devon Conway made an unbeaten 152, whereas Rachin Ravindra also impressed with an unbeaten 126. The bowlers also did a great job as they restricted a strong batting unit like England to a total of 282.

So far, the Kiwis have displayed strength in all departments and their form in the lead up to this World Cup was also excellent. They will be eager to build on that momentum now, with another victory over the Dutch.

Netherlands, on the other hand, delivered a very spirited performance in their opening match against Pakistan. They restricted the Asian nation to 286, riding on Bas de Leede's four-wicket haul.

They started their chase off well, with Vikramjit Singh and de Leede scoring fifties. But they lost their way with regular wickets and got bowled out for 205.

While Netherlands delivered a very strong bowling performance, their batting has a lot to improve upon. Barring a couple of batters, everyone else turned up with disappointing performances. The team will be eager to deliver a better performance in this game.

NZ vs NED match preview

New Zealand

The NZ cricket team have a very strong lineup, which is headed by dashing openers Devon Conway and Will Young at the top of the order. Conway showed his brilliance with an unbeaten 152 in the first match. They can score runs quickly.

While Young was dismissed for a duck, he has proven his worth over the years with consistent performances. Rachin Ravindra at number three is like a breath of fresh air in this Kiwi lineup, whereas experienced players like Tom Latham, Glenn Phillips, and Daryl Mitchell add depth to their middle order.

Their bowling also stands out with the pace department being headed by Trent Boult and the spin attack by Mitchell Santner. Other bowlers like Matt Henry, Ish Sodhi and Lockie Ferguson add good support to the frontline bowlers capable of taking wickets regularly.

Netherlands

Netherlands have shown that they have what it takes in their bowling to tame the giants. But it's their batting that needs work. Vikramjit Singh and Bas de Leede are probably their best bet as batters and they will need to deliver with big knocks if they want to stand a chance of winning this encounter.

The other batters have to step up with meaningful contributions, though. Teja Nidamanuru is another batter who has been in form of late, but failed in the first game. He needs to step up as well.
