Purple Cap is an IPL award presented to the player who picks the most wickets in an IPL season. The first-ever Purple Cap winner in IPL 2008, Sohail Tanvir managed to pick a tally of 22 wickets for Rajasthan Royals to bag the prestigious award. Likewise, every IPL season, the Purple Cap winner is bagged by the player managing to pick the most wickets in an IPL edition. Even in 2020, Purple Cap will be awarded to the top-wicket taker at the end of the tournament.
However, throughout the entire course of the tournament, Purple Cap keeps juggling among players who are the highest wicket-taker at the end of each match in the IPL. The IPL 2020 Purple Cap was won by Delhi Capitals’ pacer Kagiso Rabada for picking the most wickets in the entire season. Rabada ended with 30 wickets in IPL 2020 for the Delhi-based franchise.
