Purple Cap is an IPL award presented to the player who picks the most wickets in an IPL season. The first-ever Purple Cap winner in IPL 2008, Sohail Tanvir managed to pick a tally of 22 wickets for Rajasthan Royals to bag the prestigious award. Likewise, every IPL season, the Purple Cap winner is bagged by the player managing to pick the most wickets in an IPL edition.
However, throughout the entire course of the tournament, Purple Cap keeps juggling among players who are the highest wicket-taker at the end of each match in the IPL. It will be interesting to see which bowler claims the most wickets to account for the Purple Cap award in IPL 2021. Currently, Harshal Patel of Royal Challengers Bangalore holds the Purple Cap in IPL 2021 for picking the most wickets.
