Best match in the Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings head to head

The GT vs CSK head to head rivalry has been short and sweet. Well, sweet for the Gujarat Titans, perhaps not so much for the Chennai Super Kings. In both matches, CSK have batted first, and failed to put enough on the board to prevent GT from winning. However, the best match by far was the first encounter between these two teams.

Here’s a look at how this match unfolded:

Game One – GT win by 3 wickets (with one ball remaining)

The first meeting between these two sides was a beauty, with the game going down to the penultimate ball.

CSK batted first, and posted a respectable 169/5 from their 20 overs. The star of the show was Ruturaj Gaikwad at the top of the order, who slapped 73 from 48 to get the men in yellow off to a fast start. Two wickets in the powerplay saw Ambati Rayudu join Gaikwad, creating the biggest partnership in the match as Rayudu scored 46 of his own from 31 balls. A few big swipes from Ravindra Jadeja at the death, and CSK navigated their way to what felt like a par total.

Heading out to bat and needing to go at a decent clip from the word go, GT found themselves in trouble early. Wriddhiman Saha, Shubman Gill and Vijay Shankar all fell cheaply within the first few overs, and the Titans were left in tatters at 16/3. Two more wickets tumbled to leave GT at 87/5, with a win looking unlikely. That is, until David Miller and Rashid Khan combined for a breakneck 70 run partnership that took GT close to the finish line.

A few wickets at the death saw GT wobble, but ultimately Miller was able to stay in, and score an unbeaten 94 to see his team to victory.

Can the Gujarat Titans maintain their winning streak against the Chennai Super Kings, and extend their GT vs CSK head to head to 3-0? We’ll see on Friday night.
