Best match in the Lucknow Super Giants vs Delhi Capitals head to head

Whilst having a short history, the LSG vs DC head to head rivalry has been extremely entertaining. While it has been enjoyable for the Lucknow Super Giants, the Delhi Capitals will not feel the same way. In both matches, LSG won the toss and had a really good advantage going into the contest. However, the best match by far was the first encounter between these two teams which was played at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.

Here’s a look at how this match unfolded:

Game One – LSG win by 6 runs

It was an IPL classic with the match going down to the final over, keeping everyone at the edge of their seats.

LSG batted first and posted a huge total of 195/3 from their 20 overs. KL Rahul set the stadium ablaze with his 77 from 51 balls, giving the LSG a wonderful start. Deepak Hooda then took over the game, by scoring a breathtaking 52 off 34 balls. KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda ensured that the Lucknow Super Giants ended up with a brilliant score of 195/3, which could have easily been a 200+ score if not for the Delhi Capital death bowling.

With a huge ask ahead, Delhi Capitals were rocked early as they lost both openers within 3 overs. It seemed like the game might still be in Delhi’s court, with Mitchell Marsh and Rishab Pant counter-attacking. However, after losing Mitch Marsh in the 8th over and Rishab Pant in the 13th, the win seemed quite far, given they still required 75 of the last 7 overs. But Axar Patel, with a cameo from Rovman Powell, took the game deep but could not finish it, as they required 21 off the last over and lost the game by 6 runs.

Lucknow Super Giants will look to maintain their winning streak against the Delhi Capital and continue their impressive run in the Indian Premier League. Delhi Capitals will look to break this streak and get one against the Lucknow Super Giants, making a statement in the first game of the new edition.
