MI vs SRH – Match Review | Yesterday IPL Match Result
Yesterday IPL match saw Mumbai Indians go up against a winless Sunrisers Hyderabad at Chennai. On a typical Chepauk track, Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first. Looking at the trend of teams failing to chase down the target in this IPL season at Chennai, it was a sensible call to bat first. The move proved quite effective as the pitch slowed down as Mumbai could only 150 despite a rollicking start by the openers. However, SRH even failed to get past Mumbai's low total and succumbed to a 13-run defeat. It was a disappointing result for SRH in the MI vs SRH Yesterday IPL match. The Orange Army has three losses from as many games, languishing at the bottom of the IPL 2021 Points table.
Pollard applies finishes touches, SRH restrict Mumbai at 150
Batting first, it was a great start for Mumbai Indians as the skipper Rohit Sharma batted with an aggressive intent to capitalize the first six overs. While the run-scoring was tough on a sluggish Chepauk track, Mumbai couldn't find any rhythm during the middle-overs. Post Rohit's dismissal, both Quinton De Kock and Ishan Kishan struggled to get any runs against the SRH spinners. However, in the death overs, Keiron Pollard gave the much-needed impetus with a quickfire 35 off just 22 deliveries. Pollard's innings propelled MI to a fighting total of 150 on a slow pitch in their 20 overs. For Hyderabad, it was their spinners who managed to put shackles at MI's scoring rate throughout their innings.
Mumbai bowlers prove their brilliance, SRH fall short again
Chasing 152 for victory, SRH began in a style fashion with Jonny Bairstow going berserk in the powerplay. The English opener powered his way to a 22-ball 43 to give wings to SRH's chase. However, once Bairstow got out hit-wicket to Krunal Pandya, it was again a case of batting failure for the SRH middle-order. While David Warner managed to score 34, none of the other batters could play a long inning. Eventually, SRH fell 13 runs short of the target and was bowled out for 137. Mumbai's all-round bowling attack coupled with a brilliant performance in the field, helped them turn the MI vs SRH Yesterday IPL match result in their favor. This was Mumbai's second win in three games which takes them to the top of the points table.
