Delhi Capitals (DC) owner – Who is the owner of DC in IPL 2023?
GMR Group and JSW Group as the joint DC owners for the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Delhi Capitals (DC) are yet to win the IPL trophy despite having some of the most promising cricketers in their ranks over the years, including the likes of Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, AB de Villiers, Glenn McGrath, David Warner and many others.
There was a time when the Capitals struggled to reach the playoffs let alone winning the title. But in 2020, they turned their fortunes around by advancing to the final of the tournament. Shreyas Iyer, who is currently with the Kolkata Knight Riders, was their captain back then. But DC lost to Mumbai Indians in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Before the 2023 edition, the Capitals suffered a huge blow after Rishabh Pant was ruled out of the tournament. Earlier this year, Pant sustained multiple injuries after suffering an accident on the Delhi-Dehradun highway.
Thereafter, the Capitals named David Warner as their skipper. But the main problem was to find an appropriate replacement for Pant in the playing eleven. DC, therefore, picked the young and dynamic Abhishek Porel.
The Capitals, however, have tried their best to include Pant in their setup for the ongoing season. Head coach Ricky Ponting constantly said that the team will make Pant a part of their setup. Recently, Pant also visited the Arun Jaitley Stadium to witness his team’s first home match of the season.
Pant was seen sitting on the stands with Jay Shah, the honorary secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Pant also visited the Gujarat Titans dressing room where he met Shubman Gill and others.
The Capitals are in dire straits in IPL 2023, having lost all four of their matches in the tournament. They had a great chance of beating Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians (MI), but they lost the game.
Warner has scored three half-centuries in the tournament, but his scoring rate has been concerning. Prithvi Shaw, who is looking to find his way into the Indian team, is also not in the best of form.
The Capitals have quality fast bowlers, including South Africa’s Anrich Nortje and Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman. Going forward in the tournament, Warner has a challenging task at hand.
