Delhi Capitals (DC) Owner – Who is the Owner of Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2022

The Delhi-based franchise is one of the eight founding teams in the IPL. The franchise began as Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2008 before opting to change its name in December 2018 to Delhi Capitals (DC). The Delhi franchise began on a bright note in the inaugural IPL season after reaching the Semi-final but has failed to win an IPL trophy ever since. With the change in name and ownership, Delhi Capitals has witnessed two of its best years in IPL since 2018.

Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, Delhi finished third in 2019 before making its maiden IPL final appearance in 2020. However, the Capitals couldn't get their hands on the elusive IPL trophy. In the last two years, Delhi has emerged as the most improved IPL franchise. The on-field performance has helped the franchise grow in terms of its popularity among the fans and gain financial impetus in its brand value.

The brand value for Delhi Capitals has grown by leaps and bounds in the last two years. The franchise witnessed highly successful years in IPL in 2019 and 2020 which has produced high financial returns for the Delhi Capitals owners in the recent past. According to a report in Duff and Phelps, Delhi Capitals suffered the least dip (around 1%) in their brand value among all IPL teams after being hit by the pandemic in 2020. While the DC team brand value was estimated at around INR 374 Crores in 2019, it dropped to INR 370 Crores in IPL 2020.

However, the franchise seems to compensate with record-breaking sponsorship deals in 2022. In IPL 2022, Delhi secured the highest-ever sponsorship with a total of 25 sponsors for the franchise in the season. Hence, DC is now valued at $52.2 million or Rs 386 crores in 2022.
