IPL 2023 playoffs venue details- M.A. Chidambaram

The M.A Chidambaram Stadium is one of the oldest and well renowned stadiums in India. Traditionally a slow turning pitch, suiting the slow bowlers, it also produces some extremely good batting surfaces. Scores of over 200 have been reached and chased multiple times in the past and also this season.

The dimensions of the ground may vary, but most of the time it is shorter to one side of the ground which makes it difficult for the bowlers but also assists them when the batsmen are hitting towards the bigger side. With the humidity, dew also plays a huge role in games, and will certainly be a point of discussion as the Playoffs go in.

Due to the success of the Chennai Super Kings, the M.A Chidambaram has seen quite a few playoffs and Finals being played at this venue. One of the most famous games played here was the 2011 Final which was played against the home team Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The M.A Chidambaram has hosted 5 games in the playoff stages over the years. The team batting 1st have a slight advantage in playoffs, winning the game 3 times compared to that off the 2 times teams have won batting second. It might be a case of chasing becoming easier in T20s especially in pressure games like playoffs where batters seem more confident and hold their nerve better than the bowlers.
