IPL 2022 was the first ever 10-team IPL, and it turned out to be a massive success. Similarly, the excitement for the IPL 2023 schedule cannot be contained. Let us take a sneak peek into the 2022 season before going ahead with the IPL 2023 schedule and players list.

IPL 2023 Schedule

The new entrants Gujarat Titans, led by Hardik Pandya did not take much time to get their hands on the prized trophy. The titans from Gujarat defeat Rajasthan Royals comfortably to win their first-ever IPL season. Batting first, the Royals could manage only 130 runs which Gujarat Titans chased without breaking a sweat.

English batsman Jos Buttler was the top run scorer in the tournament with 867 runs with a massive average of 58. Leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal topped the bowling charts with 27 wickets with an economy of 7.75.

IPL 2023 schedule will be much more exciting. We expect to hear soon about the IPL schedule 2023 from BCCI. The Indian Premier League has already made news with the upcoming auction. IPL 2023 schedule and the player list will be finalized soon.

IPL 2023 schedule

The Indian Premier League usually begins somewhere in the last week of March and runs until the last week of May. As per the previous seasons, we can expect the tentative dates for the IPL kick-off to be around March 25 and the finals to be conducted on May 28 2023. Once we have the official announcement from the BCCI we will update the IPL 2023 schedule.

The first match of the IPL schedule 2023 will be played between last year's finalists, Gujarat Titans, and Rajasthan Royals. The venue for the opening match will be the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

BCCI added two new teams in the last season of the IPL – Gujarat Titans and Lucknow SuperGiants. Hence, IPL 2023 schedule will have the same 74 matches including the league stage followed by the playoffs. The teams will be divided into two groups.

In the new format, every team plays twice against the teams in the same group and the team in the same row from the other group. They play one match with the remaining teams.

Matches during the IPL 2022 were only conducted in the Mumbai-Pune belt. But the IPL 2023 schedule is expected to be played in “Home-Away” format.

The IPL trading windows have closed and the teams have released the retained player list.

Chennai Super Kings

Let's begin with CSK. Here's the list of players from the CSK squad. CSK have parted ways with the veteran Dwayne Bravo before the upcoming IPL auctions. The kings will be desperately looking to groom the next skipper after MS Dhoni throws the towel on his cricketing career.

This is what the MI squad looks like after they let go of so many players. The four-time champs let go of one of the most loyal players to the franchise – Kieron Pollard. He will still be associated with the franchise as their batting coach. Considering last year's performance, Mumbai needs to make some serious amends to the squad.

RCB looks solid on paper, as usual. Here's the IPL 2023 schedule players list for the Royal Challengers. Royal Challengers Bangalore have retained its core. The team has two overseas slots to fill in. They might look to buy back Sherfane Rutherford from the auction pool at a lower price.

The defending champions let go of one of their best performer – Lockie Ferguson which came as a huge surprise. They will look to spend big money on a fast bowler who can replace Lockie Ferguson.

KKR's IPL 2023 schedule players list looks like below. KKR has released the most number of players before the upcoming auctions. Some big names include the likes of Pat Cummins, Sam Billings, Alex Hales, etc. They have traded Lockie Ferguson from Gujarat Titans.

The Royals look good under captain Sanju Samson. They have not done any changes to the core team. They might look for some bargain buys in the forthcoming auctions.

Lucknow SuperGiants have four overseas slots to fill. They will be on the lookout for an overseas fast bowler on priority. The spin option would come in handy for the Lucknow SuperGiants

It came as a huge shock when Punjab Kings released their skipper Mayank Agarwal. Odeon Smith, who played some match-winning knocks, was also released. Kings will be hunting for an opener to fill the void of Mayank Agarwal. PBKS will look to feel the discrepancies in the following squad.

DC squad already looks settled. Here's the list of players in their squad. The only notable change for Delhi Capitals is that they have released Shardul Thakur from the squad. The core remains intact. However, they would love an additional middle-order batsman in their squad.

IPL teams should have a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 25 players, with a maximum of six overseas players. Once the auction is conducted, BCCI will announce the IPL schedule and players list on their official website.
