Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) owner – Who is the owner of KKR in IPL 2023?

Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, Jay Mehta, and Red Chilies Entertainment are the KKR owners for the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. The Men in Gold and Purple happen to be the third-most successful team in the history of the T20 league.

The Knights struggled in the first three editions where they failed to go through beyond the league stages. But once Gautam Gambhir joined them, their fortunes took a turn. In 2011, he led KKR to the playoffs for the first time, although they couldn’t go beyond that.

2012 was a breakthrough year for the Knights, who won the IPL for the first time. They defeated then two-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, also known as the Chepauk.

In 2014, Gambhir gave KKR their second IPL title after beating the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final. Manish Pandey’s knock under pressure outclassed Wriddhiman Saha’s stupendous century. After being with the team for seven seasons, Gambhir moved to the Delhi Capitals in 2018.

In the same year, Gambhir also announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Gambhir also remains their leading run-scorer in the IPL with over 3000 runs. Since 2018, Dinesh Karthik, Eoin Morgan, Shreyas Iyer, and Nitish Rana have captained KKR. In 2021, Morgan led KKR to the final where they lost to MS Dhoni’s CSK at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Rana is currently leading the Knights in the 2023 edition after Iyer was ruled out due to injury. Whether or not KKR manage to get their hands on the IPL trophy under Rana remains to be seen.

The Knights have depended heavily on two of their key all-rounders, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. Rinku Singh has emerged as a bright prospect after playing the match-winning hand against the Gujarat Titans.

The team also roped in the likes of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Lockie Ferguson, Shardul Thakur and Litton Das ahead of the season.
