Lucknow Super Giants

The KL Rahul-led Super Giants are currently placed second in the table with eight points and a net run rate of +0.709. They will go into their next game after beating the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 10 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

After being put in to bat first, the Super Giants put up a decent score of 154 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. KL Rahul and Kyle Mayers put on 82 runs for the opening wicket to lay the platform for the Super Giants.

Mayers scored 51 runs off 42 balls with four fours and three sixes. Later, Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran’s partnership of 45 runs gave the LSG innings a lot of momentum. Ravi Ashwin was the pick of the RR bowlers with figures of 4-0-23-2.

The Royals made a brilliant start courtesy of an 87-run stand for the opening wicket off 11.3 overs between Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal. But after Stoinis dismissed both batters, the Royals lost momentum.

Devdutt Padikkal tried his heart out with a knock of 26, but his efforts went in vain, Riyan Parag’s approach with the bat in the death overs was also questioned.

The Titans, led by Hardik Pandya are placed fourth in the table with six points and a net run rate of +0.192 thanks to wins in three out of five games. They will go into the game after losing to the Royals by three wickets on April 16.

After being sent in to bat first, the Titans scored 177 for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Shubman Gill and David Miller were the pick of their batters with scores of 45 band 46 respectively. Abhinav Manohar chipped in with a handy knock of 27 off 13.

Mohammed Shami was exceptional for the Giants after he finished with excellent figures of 4-1-25-3. But his efforts could not pay dividends as the Royals chased down the target with four balls to spare. Rashid Khan picked up two wickets, but went for 46 runs in his quota of four overs.

Gujarat Titans have a settled unit and should be able to win the next game, although they are placed lower than the Super Giants in the points table. LSG did beat the Royals last time, but getting past the Titans may not be a walk in the park.

The Titans should opt to field first after winning the toss. They have a strong batting lineup, capable of chasing down any target. The likes of Shubman Gill, David Miller have been in impressive form.

Man of the match prediction: Rashid Khan  

Rashid Khan went for a few runs in his previous game, but the fact that he got two crucial wickets can’t be overlooked. The LSG batters need to be smart while facing him.
