Punjab Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore vs match preview
Punjab Kings
Punjab Kings, on the other hand, are placed fifth in the table with six points and a net run rate of -0.109. But going into their next game, the team has reasons to worry about. It is yet not known if Shikhar Dhawan would take part in the game. After sustaining a shoulder niggle in the match against the Gujarat Titans, Dhawan missed the match against the Super Giants.
The Kings will go into the game after beating the Super Giants by two wickets. Sikandar Raza became the Player of the Match after he scored 57 runs off 41 balls with four fours and three sixes. He also got the crucial wicket of Deepak Hooda.
After being asked to chase down 160, PBKS romped home with three balls to spare. Shahrukh Khan also played his part after he hammered 23 runs off 10 balls at a critical stage of the match.
PBKS possible XI: Atharva Taide, Matthew Short, Harpreet Singh Bhatia, Sikandar Raza, Sam Curran (c), Jitesh Sharma (wk), Shahrukh Khan, Harpreet Brar, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh
Royal Challengers Bangalore
RCB, led by Faf du Plessis, started their campaign with an eight-wicket win over Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians (MI). But since then, they have lost three out of four matches and are placed eighth in the table with four points and a net run rate of -0.316.
They will go into the game after losing to MS Dhoni’s Chennai Supe Kings (CSK) by eight runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. After opting to field, RCB faltered big time as the Super Kings racked up a huge score of 226 for the loss of six wickets.
Barring Mohammed Siraj, who finished with figures of 4-0-30-1, all the other bowlers were taken to the cleaners. Devon Conway’s knock of 83 and Shivam Dube’s 52 blew RCB away.
Fad du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell scored 62 and 76 respectively, but their valiant efforts could not pay dividends for their teams. The duo put on 126 runs for the third wicket, setting a new record for the Challengers in the history of the IPL.
RCB possible XI: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis (c), Mahipal Lomror, Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Harshal Patel, Wanindu Hasaranga, Wayne Parnell, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Mohammed Siraj
Pitch and expected weather conditions
The pitch in Mohali has generally been an excellent one for the batters. Defending scores at the venue is not easy by any stretch of the imagination. There is no chance of rain as of now, but playing conditions will be hot and humid. Temperatures will be around the 31-degree Celsius mark with the humidity in the 40s.
PBKS vs RCB Dream11 prediction
Our PBKS vs RCB Dream11 prediction for this match
- Wicketkeeper(s): Jitesh Sharma
- Batter(s): Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis
- All-rounder(s): Glenn Maxwell, Sikandar Raza, Matthew Short, Sam Curran, Wanindu Hasaranga
- Bowler(s): Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh
- Recommended captain: Virat Kohli
- Recommended vice-captain: Glenn Maxwell
Match prediction: Royal Challengers Bangalore to win
RCB have looked a tad out of sorts of late, but their batting remains a big strong point. If the likes of Maxwell, Kohli and Faf get going, PBKS bowlers will find themselves in trouble.
Toss prediction: RCB to win the toss and field first
Du Plessis’ RCB should opt to field first after winning the toss. Mohali has always helped the chasing teams.
Man of the match prediction: Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli failed to perform in the game against the Super Kings where Akash Singh dismissed him. But apart from that, the right-handed batter from Delhi has looked in ominous touch. The veteran should enjoy batting on the pitch in Mohali which is suited for free stroke-play.
Betting Odds
- Royal Challengers Bangalore: 1.805
- Punjab Kings: 2.005
The bookmakers also think what we predicted. RCB are the favourites as per the bookies. But PBKS cannot be undermined, especially after their win over the Super Giants. PBKS showed that they have the potential to beat opponents even in the absence of their skipper, Shikhar Dhawan. The upcoming match is expected to be an absolute thriller. Maxwell is also a big threat for PBKS as he knows the ground well having played for Punjab earlier.
