Predicted playing XI for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2020

With nearly a week reaming for the commencement of 13th IPL edition, the IPL schedule 2020 for the same was released to be held in the UAE this year. Taking about one of the most complete IPL teams in the tournament, SunRisers Hyderabad will yet again be a contender to claim the IPL trophy. With a squad covering all the bases, SRH is likely to form a strong playing XI for their maiden fixture in IPL 2020.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) kickstarts their IPL 2020 campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on September 21 at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. The David Warner-led side boasts of a great mixture of both experienced and young Indian players. Except for the inexperience in the Indian middle-order batsman, the Orange Army is all set to produce some fireworks in the upcoming season.

Let’s look at the probable playing XI for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for their opening IPL match in 2020:

1. Openers: Jonny Bairstow, David Warner, Wriddhiman Saha

Jonny Bairstow and David Warner form one of the most deadly opening combinations in the history of IPL. The duo once put on a partnership of 185 runs last year which is the highest for 1st wicket in IPL. In IPL 2019, both Warner and Bairstow racked up 185 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the first wicket to record the highest opening partnership in IPL history.

It is highly likely that SRH will begin their 2020 campaign with Bairstow and Warner at the top of the order subject to their availability in the first week. In their absence, Wridhiman Saha will be the back-up opener who might also get an opportunity to open alongside Warner in the later stages of the tournament. If Warner and Bairstow can replicate their IPL success from 2019, SRH is likely to go the distance even in IPL 2020.

2. Middle-Order: Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, Virat Singh, Vijay Shankar

Kane Williamson captained the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last two IPL seasons and even emerged as the Orange Cap winner in 2108 IPL. Though he may not feature in SRH playing XI in each game in 2020, his experience will still be greatly valued for the Orange Army. The Indian duo of Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar along with promising youngsters like Virat Singh and Priyam Garg will form the core of the middle-order for SRH in their likely playing XI.

While Manish might take up the No.3 spot in SRH's predicted XI, Vijay Shankar can bat as a handy all-rounder at No.5. The likes of Priyam Garg and Virat Singh might get a go-in at some of the later stages in the tournament.

 

3. All Rounders: Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Mitchell Marsh, Fabien Allen, Abhishek Sharma

SRH have the luxury to choose from a variety of all-rounders available in their 2020 IPL squad. Rashid Khan, undoubtedly one of the best spinners in limited-overs cricket will be a definite starter in the playing XI. The other few all-rounders including Mohammad Nabi and Mitchell Marsh will find a place in the playing XI based upon the team composition and the pitch on offer.

Marsh has been around the circuit for a long time, while Nabi is at his imperious best in the ongoing CPL. The exciting Indian youngster Abhishek Sharma, known for fearless attitude can also contribute both with bat and ball.

The two-time Purple Cap winner in the IPL, Bhuvneshwar Kumar will once again spearhead the SRH bowling attack in 2020. Though he was not at his usual best in IPL 2019 and coming from a long injury lay off in 2020, Bhuvi is still the main man for SRH. The other proven Indian internationals like Khaleel Ahmed, Siddharth Kaul, and Sandeep Sharma will add a lot of depth to this bowling attack.
