Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Capitals match preview
Royal Challengers Bangalore
The Challengers, led by Faf du Plessis, started their campaign with a resounding eight-wicket win over five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI). But since then, they have struggled a wee bit and are placed seventh in the table with two points and a net run rate of -0.800.
They will go into the game after losing to KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by one wicket in Bangalore. While their batting was decent, it’s their bowlers, who failed to build much of a pressure on the opposition batters.
After being put in to bat first, RCB racked up a huge score of 212 for the loss of two wickets. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis laid the platform with a partnership of 96 runs for the opening wicket off 11.3 overs. Kohli scored 61 runs off 44 balls before Amit Mishra accounted for his wicket.
Thereafter, du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell put on 115 runs for the second wicket to put their team in a position of command. Mark Wood dismissed Maxwell, who scored 59 off 29, in the last over, but by then, the damage was already done.
The Super Giants chased down the target off the last ball after Nicholas Pooran hit the joint second-fastest fifty in the history of the IPL. Harshal Patel tried his heart out to defend five runs in the final over, but LSG romped home off the final ball.
RCB possible XI: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis (c), Mahipal Lomror, Glenn Maxwell, Shahbaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Anuj Rawat, David Willey, Wayne Parnell, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj
Delhi Capitals
The Capitals, led by David Warner, are going through a rough patch in the ongoing edition of the T20 league. They are currently placed at the bottom of the table with a net run rate of -1.576, having lost all four of their matches thus far in the tournament.
They lost to the Mumbai Indians (MI) by six wickets in their previous game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. David Warner and Axar Patel scored half-centuries, helping the Capitals post a challenging target of 173 for MI to chase down.
Axar was the one, who gave the Capitals’ innings a finishing kick with a knock of 54 runs off 25 balls. Manish Pandey also promised with a knock of 26 runs off 18 balls.
The match went right down to the wire, but Cameron Green and Tim David held their nerve to take MI home. Anrich Nortje had five runs to defend in the last over, but his efforts went in vain.
DC possible XI: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner (c), Manish Pandey, Yash Dhull, Rovman Powell, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Abhishek Porel (wk), Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Mustafizur Rahman
Pitch and expected weather conditions
The pitch in Bangalore has been an excellent one for batting. But the chasing team is expected to have a big advantage. Bowlers won’t have much room for error. Playing conditions will be hot with temperatures around the 35-degree Celsius mark. There is no chance of rain for the time being.

Match prediction: Royal Challengers Bangalore to win
Royal Challengers Bangalore have shown they have a strong batting lineup for home conditions. Although they lost their previous game at home, they have a decent chance of making a comeback. RCB, however, will want their bowlers to get their act together.
Toss prediction: RCB to win the toss and field first
Royal Challengers Bangalore should opt to field first on an excellent batting track if they win the toss in the first of Saturday’s doubleheader.
Man of the match prediction: Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli has looked in decent touch with the bat in hand until now. He knows the conditions in Bangalore very well and will be hard to stop for the DC bowlers. He will be high on confidence after scoring a half-century against LSG, although his knock came in a losing cause.
Betting Odds
- Royal Challengers Bangalore: 1.632
- Delhi Capitals: 2,270
The bookmakers think that RCB have a better chance of winning the upcoming game, which is like our prediction. The Capitals are winless and facing the Challengers in the latter’s backyard won’t be easy by any stretch of the imagination.
