Talking about New Zealand, they have made a habit of upping their game in big tournaments and reaching knockouts. After losing to England in the build-up, the Black Caps looked great in the warm-up fixtures. They chased down 346 against Pakistan by five wickets, with multiple batters stepping up.
New Zealand then defeated South Africa by seven runs on the DLS method after posting 321/8.
The Black Caps do have a few issues to deal with as Kane Williamson will not be available for this opening game while Tim Southee continues his recovery.
The weather has been an issue in most parts of the country this winter but Gujarat is expected to be clear and warm on Thursday. As things stand, the World Cup opener should go ahead uninterrupted and have a result.
