Yet another match at the ongoing World Cup turned out to be one-sided as the New Zealand vs Netherlands result went as expected with the Kiwis registering their second consecutive win.
The Netherlands, on the other hand, went down in their second game as well but not before putting up a decent fight which was eventually not enough to beat the Black Caps.
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad hosted its second match of the World Cup and it turned out to be a good pitch to bat on. Spinners enjoyed bowling at the venue as well with Mitchell Santner eventually ending with a five-wicket haul.
As far as the match is concerned, New Zealand rode on half-centuries from Will Young, Rachin Ravindra and Tom Latham to post 322 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Santner also played a vital knock of 36* off 17 balls to propel the team’s total.
The Netherlands bowlers impressed but couldn’t finish well.

In response, the Dutch started well and with Colin Ackermann in the middle at the halfway stage, they believed, just like they did against Pakistan.
But they repeated the same mistake with loose shots and Ackermann’s wicket led to a collapse in the end. They were bundled out for 223 runs in the 47th over.

New Zealand vs Netherlands result: New Zealand won by 99 runs
The fifth match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 saw New Zealand continuing their unbeaten record against the Dutch. It was a decent performance from the Tom Latham-led side, winning by 99 runs in Hyderabad.
Match Highlights
New Zealand’s innings: New Zealand openers played out three maidens to start with but then the run-scoring improved. Young, Rachin, Mitchell and Latham batted well to take the team’s score close to 300. But the real impetus was provided by Santner as they finished on 322/7 in 50 overs.
Netherlands’ chase: It was going to be a tough chase for the Dutch always. But they started off well and with Ackermann slamming a half-century, they looked serious about the chase. However, they lost steam yet again in the second half to lose wickets to Santner and got bowled out for just 223.

Mitchell Santner is an underrated match-winner. The man did a perfect finishing job with the bat first smashing three fours and two sixes in his unbeaten 32. He then picked up a big wicket of Ackermann and ran through the batting line up of the Netherlands to end with the figures of 5/59 in his 10 overs. Santner deservedly won the Man of the Match award in this match.
