Three KKR’s bowlers are among top 10 highest wicket-takers of IPL 2024 which proves how good they were as a bowling unit. Meanwhile, bowlers from other teams also did well throughout the season but didn’t get enough support from the other end. Nevertheless, their consistent efforts helped them become the top bowlers of the season.

Harshal Patel (PBKS) – 24 wickets

Punjab Kings might have finished at ninth place in the points table this season but Harshal Patel ended up winning the purple cap for picking most wickets in the season. The fast bowler scalped 24 wickets in IPL 2024 in 14 matches sending down 49 overs and picked wickets at an average of 19.87 and a strike rate of 12.25.

His economy of 9.73 might seem to be on the higher side and even Harshal endured bad days with the ball. But he kept striking with the ball in almost every match picking multiple three-wicket hauls. Harshal’s efforts didn’t help Punjab win more than five matches this season but his performance bodes well for the franchise in terms of planning for the mega auction.

Varun Chakaravarthy (KKR) – 21 wickets

Mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy was the top wicket-taker for KKR in IPL 2023 and he repeated his heroics more effectively even in this season. Chakaravarthy kept the batters on the tenterhooks all the time with his variations and picked up a staggering 21 wickets at an average of 19.14 and an average of 14.28. His economy of 8.04 proves the way he controlled the run-scoring with his variations.

Varun finished his quota of four overs in almost every match sending down 50 overs in 14 innings conceding only 402 runs which is a great effort given the way the bowlers were taken apart for runs this year. Varun Chakaravarthy was one of the vital cogs of KKR squad that eventually ended up lifting the title for the third time.

Jasprit Bumrah (MI) – 20 wickets

Even though he ended as the third highest wicket-taker of IPL 2024, Jasprit Bumrah has to be the best bowler of the season. The man stepped up for the Mumbai Indians in almost every match accounting for a total of 20 wickets this season. Bumrah played 13 matches before finally resting in the dead rubber final league stage and accounted for as many wickets at an average of 16.8 and a strike rate of 15.55. 

His economy of 6.48 is the best among all top 10 bowlers as he conceded only 336 runs in 51.5 overs he bowled this year. Moreover, he is also one of the only three bowlers to pick up a five-wicket haul this season. It is only a pity that his team didn’t make it to the playoffs with MI’s rest of the bowling attack being very poor on most of the occasions.

Andre Russell (KKR) – 19 wickets

Andre Russell, most of the time, makes the headlines for his swashbuckling knocks with the bat. But this season, KKR didn’t need his batting much, in fact, not even once while chasing a score. On the other hand, Russell stepped up with the ball for the champions showcasing his skills bowling mostly in the death overs.

Russell bowled only 29.2 overs in 14 innings and conceded runs at an economy of 10.05 but the man ended up picking 19 wickets at an average of 15.52 and a strike rate of 9.26. His best figures of 3/19 prove that the man from the Caribbean picked wickets at crucial junctures in almost every match for KKR.

Harshit Rana (KKR) – 19 wickets

Harshit Rana has to be the find of IPL 2024 not only for KKR but also for Indian cricket. The fast bowler was fined and banned this season for his aggression but that didn’t stop him from delivering his best in 11 innings this season. Rana ended up picking 19 wickets in 11 appearances with the ball at a brilliant strike rate of 13.31 and an averag of 20.15.

His economy of above 9 clears that he bowled in toughest phases in the innings but his line and lengths were spot on most of the times. Rana certainly has the bright future and he proved his skills in 42.1 overs that he sent down in IPL 2024.

Leading wicket-taker of each IPL team

T Natarajan (SRH) – 19 wickets

T Natarajan redeemed his credentials as a T20 bowler after a long time this season. Moreover, the left-arm fast bowler remained fit for an entire season and that reaped him the rewards as he is the joint-fourth highest wicket-taker of IPL 2024 edition. Natarajan picked up 19 wickets in 14 matches this year while playing for the runners up Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He sent down 52.1 overs conceding 465 runs at an economy of 9.05 but was one of the few bowlers to deliver a maiden over. This is a fantastic effort in a season when the 200-run mark was crossed around 37 times and Natarajan’s best effort of 4/19 in one of the games just proves his efficiency for SRH in IPL 2024.

Arshdeep Singh (PBKS) – 19 wickets

After Harshal Patel, the go-to bowler for the Punjab Kings’ skipper this season was left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh. He is one of the bowlers India has picked for the T20 World Cup and the man showcased stunning form in IPL 2024. Arshdeep bowled in the powerplay and at the death most this season and his economy of 10.03 shows that he was taken for a lot of runs.

But picking up 19 wickets at an average of 26.57 and a strike rate of 15.89 is certainly not a poor effort by any means. Arshdeep registered the best figures of 4/29 this season and was also one of the very few bowlers with a four-wicket haul in an edition.

Avesh Khan (RR) – 19 wickets

Avesh Khan finished his IPL 2024 season as the highest wicket-taker for the Rajasthan Royals. In fact, one can say that the fast bowler had his best season in his IPL career so far. Avesh dismissed the batters a stunning 19 times in 15 innings while sending down 54.5 overs. His tactics while bowling at the death were impeccable and that earned him wickets most of the time.

Avesh accounted for 19 wickets at an average of 27.68 and a strike rate of 17.31 with his economy rate being 9.59. He is part of the travelling reserves for India at the T20 World Cup and would be keen on performing if he gets a chance to represent the men in blue over the next month or so.

Yuzvendra Chahal (RR) – 18 wickets

Yuzvendra Chahal, the leg-spinner, spun the web around the batters especially in the first half of IPL 2024. Chahal bowled beautifully to start off his IPL season on a high before his form waned off almost completely at the business end of the competition. The Indian leggie was once the proud owner of the purple cap but lost steam as the tournament progressed.

Interestingly, his performances in the first half, earned Chahal a place in the main squad for the T20 World Cup. But since then, he was expensive in his spell that spoiled his figures overall. Chahal ended with 18 wickets in 15 innings at an average of 30.33 and a strike rate of 19.33 with his economy rate reading 9.41. Overall, he sent down 58 overs while conceding 546 runs this season.

Pat Cummins (SRH) – 18 wickets

Is there anything left that Pat Cummins can’t do? He won the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup as the Australia captain and took SRH to the final in his maiden captaincy effort not only in the IPL but in T20 cricket. Cummins led SRh superbly but at the same time, his bowling form didn’t affect as he ended the season with a massive 18 wickets in 16 overs.

However, Cummins was the most expensive bowler conceding most runs this season (566 runs in 61 overs) at an economy of 9.27. Moreover, the Aussie Test and ODI skipper picked his wickets at an average of 31.44 and a strike rate of 20.33. Despite his figures being on the higher side, Cummins kept picking wickets and with Natarajan by his side, the man made sure SRH got the wickets at the right time which took them to the final in the end.

Several batters showcased their skills throughout the tournament and scored a lot of runs. Even though pitches were flat this time around on most venues, only few batters could make the most of those conditions and ended up amassing a lot of runs for their respective teams.

Most runs IPL 2024 – Orange Cap in IPL 2024

Virat Kohli (RCB) – 741 runs

Virat Kohli had one of his best IPL seasons with the bat for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He opened the innings in all the matches and amassed a staggering 741 runs in 15 outings at an average of 61.75 and the strike rate of 154.69. He smacked five half-centuries and one century albeit it came in the losing cause. Kohli changed his game according to the demands of modern day cricket this time around smashing 38 sixes, second most among all players in IPL 2024. Along with it, the former RCB skipper also hit 62 fours.

His form at the top of the order was one of the major reasons for RCB’s turnaround in the second half as they made it to the playoffs beating Chennai Super Kings in their last league game. Unfortunately, Kohli’s impeccable efforts couldn’t give RCB the trophy as they bowed out of the tournament losing the eliminator to Rajasthan Royals.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK) – 583 runs

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) witnessed a change in leadership just before the opening game of the season this year. MS Dhoni handed over the reins to talented batter Ruturaj Gaikwad and the latter embraced the responsibility very well. He made sure to score plenty of runs opening the innings for the five-time champions. Ruturaj amassed 583 runs in 14 innings in IPL 2024 at a brilliant average of 53 and a strike rate of 141.16.

The captain led from the front scoring five fifty-plus scores one of which was a stunning century (108*) that came against Lucknow Super Giants. However, Gaikwad’s efforts didn’t prove to be enough as CSK couldn’t make it to the playoffs for the third time since IPL 2020. At the same time, they couldn’t defend their title as well but the captain’s efforts were praised all around and he will be hoping to do better in the coming years.

Riyan Parag (RR) – 573 runs

The most stunning turnaround of the IPL 2024 has to be of Riyan Parag. He was being trolled left, right and centre on social media over the last few years for his non-performance. But this year, Parag stepped up and finally did justice to the talent he possesses. To their credit, even the Rajasthan Royals management realised the cricketer’s strength and they promoted Parag to number four this season.

The faith reaped instant rewards as he notched up consistent scores at the position and at one stage, he was contesting for orange cap with Kohli. Nevertheless, Parag ended as the third highest run-getter of the season with 573 runs to his name in 14 innings at an average of 52.09 and a strike rate of 149.21 with four half-centuries to his name. Unfortunately, Parag’s form faded at the fag end of the season or else he would’ve tallied a lot more runs. Overall, the Royals’ number four also smashed 40 fours and 33 sixes and would be keen on being consistent in IPL in the coming years.

Travis Head (SRH) – 567 runs

Sunrisers Hyderabad redefined the batting approach in T20 cricket this season in IPL and the major credit of the same goes to opener Travis Head. After not making it to the playing XI in their season opener, Head made sure he pummelled the ball hard in every outing and scored 567 runs in 15 innings at a stunning strike rate of 191.55. He smashed runs at an average of 40.50 displaying amazing consistency and played key roles in SRH crossing the 250-run mark multiple times in the season.

Head’s form tailed off in the last few matches as he bagged three ducks in last four outings including a golden duck in the final against KKR. But even then, the southpaw managed to hit 64 fours and 32 sixes during SRH’s run to the finals of IPL 2024.

Sanju Samson (RR) – 531 runs

Probably for the first time in his IPL career, Sanju Samson displayed amazing consistency throughout the cash-rich league. Leading from the front for the Royals, he smashed 531 runs in 15 innings at an average of 48.27 and a strike rate of 153.46 with as many as five fifties to his name. 

Samson also smashed 48 fours and 24 sixes while he showed off his amazing hitting skills against the spinners in the middle overs. His efforts helped the team make it to the playoffs but the loss of form as a team in the second half hurt the Royals as Samson and his mein bowed out of the tournament in the second qualifier.

Sai Sudharsan (GT) – 527 runs

Sai Sudharsan was one of the only few players to score a century in IPL 2024. He amassed 527 runs in just 12 innings for the Gujarat Titans this season at a strike rate of 141.28 and an average of 47.9 with two fifties and a ton to his name. Sudharsan batted in top three while opening the innings at times for the Titans this season and amassed runs in style in almost every match for the IPL 2022 champions.

He smacked 48 fours and 16 sixes this time around and his heroic 103-run knock came against CSK. Unfortunately, his efforts with the bat didn’t bear fruits as the Titans couldn’t make it to the playoffs finishing at the eighth position in the points table with only 12 points.

KL Rahul (LSG) – 520 runs

Despite all the talk around his strike rate, KL Rahul once again managed to score more than 500 runs in a single IPL season. He amassed 520 runs in 14 innings to finish as the seventh highest run-getter in IPL 2024. His average of 37.14 and the strike rate of 136.12 was decent enough as he also crossed the fifty-run mark four times this season.

Rahul’s pace of scoring the runs was questioned on multiple occasions but at times, he also recovered later in the innings and despite the fact that he couldn’t lead LSG to the playoffs, a season in excess of 500 runs should be considered a brilliant effort from the skipper of the team.

Nicholas Pooran (LSG) – 499 runs

Another player from the Lucknow Super Giants side who held the batting together for them in IPL 2024 was Nicholas Pooran. The swashbuckling left-handed batter smashed 499 runs in 14 innings at a brilliant strike rate of 178.21 and was one of the few batters to hit more sixes than fours. Pooran struck 36 maximums this season as opposed to 35 fours which is a stunning effort for a player who batted mostly at five or six this edition.

His average of 62.37 is also the best among everyone this season and Pooran should be deemed unlucky to not play the playoffs with his team losing steam in the second half, especially the last three to four matches of the season.

Sunil Narine (KKR) – 488 runs

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) of IPL 2024, Sunil Narine was the ninth highest run-getter of the season. He opened the innings and plundered 488 runs in 14 innings at a sparkling strike rate of 180.74. His average of 34.85 might seem very less but in almost every match, Narine got KKR off to a flier along with his opening partner Phil Salt.

Narine was the star with the ball as well as he played a major role in the KKR winning the trophy for the record third time. Overall, Narine smashed 50 fours and 33 sixes with the bat making it one of the best, if not the best IPL season for him.

Abhishek Sharma (SRH) – 484 runs

Abhishek Sharma redeemed himself in IPL 2024 with the bat. The young left-handed batter, along with his opening partner Head, redefined the batting in T20 cricket. He smashed 484 runs at an amazing strike rate of 204.21, the best among all the top 10 run-scorers of the season. He scored three half-centuries while also hitting 36 fours and 42 sixes during his stay in the middle.

Like Head, even Abhishek’s score faded away in the last few matches. Nevertheless, it was a fantastic effort with the bat from the southpaw as SRH ended as the runners up in IPL 2024.

Group Stage

The competition begins with the Group Stage, where the 20 teams are distributed into four groups of five. Each team is guaranteed to play four matches within their group, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super 8s stage.

Super 8s

In the Super 8s, the eight successful teams from the group stage are split into two new groups. They compete in a round-robin format, with each team playing three matches. The top two teams from each Super 8s group will then move on to the semi-finals, setting the stage for high-stakes cricket.

Knockout Rounds

The tournament crescendos with the semi-finals and the final. The semi-finals pit the top teams from the Super 8s against each other, leading to the final showdown in Barbados on June 29. This one-off match will determine the champion of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Bangladesh

Bangladesh enters the tournament with a few uncertainties, particularly regarding their strongest XI. Experienced opener Litton Das has struggled with form, averaging just 13.16 this year. Group D of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 promises high-stakes action and fierce competition. With each team capable of upsetting the others, every match will be a thrilling encounter.

T20 World Cup is played every two years with England winning the tournament in 2022, the edition that was played in Australia. A total of six countries have lifted a T20 World Cup trophy since its inaugural edition in 2007. Only England and West Indies have won the tournament twice and it remains to be seen if a new winner will be crowned this time around.

Most sixes at the T20 World Cup

In a bid to make the sport global, ICC has expanded the tournament to 20 teams this time around with several countries participating for the first time. These teams have been split into four groups of five each. Top two teams from each of these groups will qualify for the Super 8 round. At this stage, the teams will be divided into two groups of four each.

Top two teams from these groups will make it to the knockouts that are scheduled to be played on June 26 and 27 in Trinidad and Guyana respectively. The grand final is set to take place on June 29 (Saturday) at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados as the new T20 World Champions will be crowned in front of a packed house.

T20 World Cup winners

T20 World Cup 2007 – India

India won the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup back in 2007 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. A young inexperienced squad was sent for the mega event played in South Africa and they created history defying all the odds. India defeated Pakistan in the final by just five runs to lift the trophy.

Gautam Gambhir was the top run-scorer for India amassing 227 runs in six innings at an average of 37.83 with three fifties to his name. Apart from Yuvraj Singh was the star smashing six sixes off Stuart Broad and also played a match-winning knock in the semifinal against Australia. With the ball, RP Singh and Irfan Pathan played major roles in India’s runs to the title as the duo picked 12 and 10 wickets respectively. The current India skipper Rohit Sharma is the only active player from that winning squad and he played a crucial hand scoring 88 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 144.26.

Gambhir was the star player in the final for India scoring 75 runs off 54 balls while Rohit provided a strong finish with an unbeaten 30 off 16 balls. India posted 157 runs in their 20 overs and ended up defending it successfully. RP Singh and Irfan Pathan were the stars in the final picking up three wickets each with the latter winning the player of the match award.

T20 World Cup 2009 – Pakistan

After missing out in the inaugural edition, Pakistan made amends to win the T20 World Cup in 2009 with Younis Khan as captain. They didn’t start well losing to England in the group stage but made it to Super 8 round with an 82-run win over Ireland. Even in the next round, they lost to Sri Lanka in their first game but came back well beating New Zealand and Ireland and qualified for the semis where they got the better of South Africa by seven runs.

It was an all Asian final between Sri Lanka and Pakistan at Lord’s and the latter side prevailed under pressure chasing down 139 runs easily with eight wickets in hand. Kamran Akmal was the top-scorer for Pakistan scoring 188 runs seven innings while Umar Gul ended as the top wicket-taker picking 13 scalps. Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal also supported him well picking up 11 and 12 wickets respectively.

Pakistan restricted Sri Lanka in the final for just 138 runs despite Kumar Sangakkara playing a fighting knock of unbeaten 64 runs. Abdul Razzaq shone with the ball picking up 3/20. In response, Shahid Afridi led the way with the bat as he scored an unbeaten 54 to lead Pakistan to memorable victory.

T20 World Cup 2010 – England

The third edition of the T20 World Cup was played in the Caribbean for the first time and England prevailed in alien conditions to lift the trophy for the first time. The Paul Collingwood-led side couldn’t win a single game in the group stage as they lost to the West Indies and the game against Ireland washed out. But on the basis of better NRR, they qualified and then didn’t look back.

England won all their Super 8 round matches beating Pakistan, New Zealand and South Africa. They defeated Sri Lanka in the semifinal by seven wickets and then got the better of arch-rivals Australia in the title clash by same margin to lift the trophy. Kevin Pietersen was the best batter for them scoring 248 runs in six innings while Graeme Swann and Ryan Sidebottom both picked up 10 wickets each.

In the final, David Hussey smashed 59 runs to take Australia to 147 from a precarious position of 8/3 in 2.1 overs. But Craig Kieswetter and Kevin Pietersen smashed 63 and 47 runs respectively to help them gun down the target in just 17 overs with seven wickets in hand.

T20 World Cup 2012 – West Indies

West Indies defied all the odds to win the T20 World Cup in 2012 in Sri Lanka. Interestingly, like England in 2010, even the Caribbeans didn’t win a single group game as they lost to Australia and their game against Ireland was washed out. Even in Super 8 round, the West Indies had to fight hard their must-win game against New Zealand ended in a tie and they qualified for the semifinal via super over.

Then they got the better of Australia comfortably in the semifinal by posting a mammoth total of 205 runs and won by 74 runs. Marlon Samuels played the knock of his life in the final when his team was struggling at 14/2 after six overs to take them to 137 in 20 overs. West Indies managed to defend the subpar total against the hosts Sri Lanka and won the final comfortably by 36 runs.

Samuels and Gayle were the major scorers with the bat smashing 230 and 222 runs respectively. Sunil Narine and Ravi Rampaul picked up nine wickets each for the Caribbeans in their winning run.

T20 World Cup 2014 – Sri Lanka

After losing multiple finals, Sri Lanka finally realised their dream of winning the T20 World Cup in the 2014 edition that was played in Bangladesh. They defeated India in the low-scoring one-sided final with Dinesh Chandimal leading them to glory. Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara signed off on a high in their respective careers with this glory.

In their journey, Sri Lanka defeated South Africa, Netherlands and New Zealand to make it to the semifinals. They defeated the West Indies in the semis before taking down the MS Dhoni-led Indian side in the title clash. Sri Lanka chased down the target of 131 runs with six wickets and 13 balls in hand to lift the trophy for the first and only time in history.

Mahela Jayawardene was their leading run-scorer amassing 158 runs in six matches while Nuwan Kulasekara was exceptional with the ball for them picking up eight wickets. In fact, it was a collective team effort from them as none of their players was the top run-scorer or top wicket-taker in the tournament.

T20 World Cup 2016 – West Indies

West Indies were back again at the helm winning the T20 World Cup for the second time in the history. They became the first team to win the trophy twice in history and this time, won the tournament in India. The Caribbeans, led by Darren Sammy, took down teams like England, Sri Lanka and South Africa in the group before losing to Afghanistan but made it to the semifinal comfortably.

In the knockout clash, they chased a mammoth target of 193 runs in the last over thriller against the hosts India who were led by MS Dhoni for the last time in an ICC event. West Indies then historically beat England with Carlos Brathwaite smashing four sixes in the final over off Ben Stokes to lift the title.

They gunned down the target of 156 runs despite reeling at 11/3 in the third over of the chase. Once again, Samuels played a key role smashing an unbeaten 85 off 65 balls while Brathwaite scored an unbeaten 34 off just 10 balls to win them the trophy in the last over.

As far as the top performers are concerned, Samuels scored 181 runs in six innings and was the highest run-getter for the West Indies. Samuel Badree, Andre Russell and Dwayne Bravo were joint highest wicket-takers picking up nine wickets each in the tournament.

T20 World Cup 2021 – Australia

It took five years for the seventh edition of T20 World Cup to take place. The mega event was earlier scheduled to take place in 2020 but COVID-19 breakout led to the ICC postponing the tournament. Even though it happened in 2021, the competition was moved to the UAE as the original hosts India were still battling the COVID virus.

Australia defied all the odds to win the tournament under Aaron Finch’s leadership. They lost only one game, against England, and won against South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, West Indies to make it to the semifinal. In the knockout clash, Matthew Wade turned out to be the hero for them as he took down Shaheen Afridi as Australia beat Pakistan chasing a mammoth total.

The title clash against arch-rivals New Zealand turned out to be one-sided. The Aussie chased down 173 runs without breaking a sweat with seven balls and eight wickets in hand. David Warner was the highest run-scorer for the Men in Yellow with 289 runs in seven innings at an average of 48.16 and a strike-rate of 146.70 with three fifties. With the ball, it was a collective effort from Adam Zampa and Josh Hazlewood who picked up 11 wickets each. 

T20 World Cup 2022 – England

The eighth and previous edition of the T20 World Cup happened in Australia but the hosts and the defending champions couldn’t even make it to the semis this time. Instead their arch-rivals, England stepped up to win the tournament beating Pakistan in the final. They started their campaign with a comfortable win over Afghanistan before shocking losing to Ireland and their next game against Australia was washed out.

However, from here on, England got the better of New Zealand and Sri Lanka to book their spot in the semifinal against hot-favourites India. However, Jos Buttler and his men trounced Rohit Sharma-led men in blue by 10 wickets chasing down almost 170 without even breaking a sweat. It all came down the final against Pakistan and England did it with ease chasing 138 runs with five wickets and six balls in hand.

Captain led from the front for the Brits as Buttler scored 225 runs in just six innings at an average of 45 and a strike rate of 144.23 with two fifties to his name. Another player who was in-form was Alex Hales scoring 212 at a strike rate of 147.22. Sam Curran was the best bowler picking up 13 wickets in just six matches for the eventual champions.

England will be keen on becoming the first team to win the T20 World Cup three times and they have almost the same personnel this time around. In fact, the team seems to be stronger with the arrival of Jofra Archer and Phil Salt in their line-up boosting the bowling and batting attacks respectively.

Players with most sixes in T20 World Cup

1. Chris Gayle (West Indies)

It is no surprise that Universe Boss Chris Gayle is on top of the list of players with most sixes in T20 World Cup. He played 33 matches (31 innings) and smashed a massive 63 sixes while amassing 965 runs at a strike rate of 142.75. He has hit the most sixes in the mega event having featured in seven editions of T20 World Cup. Gayle is not playing at the international level anymore and cannot add to his tally in the upcoming tournament.

2. Rohit Sharma (India)

Rohit Sharma will lead India yet again in the upcoming competition and is also at the second position in the list of players with most sixes in T20 World Cup having featured in every edition since 2007. In 36 innings so far, Rohit has smashed 35 maximums and is only 37 runs away from competing 1000 runs in the mega event as well. The India skipper will be hoping to get close to Gayle or even surpass by playing some memorable knocks in the tournament this year.

3. Jos Buttler (England)

Jos Buttler will be leading England’s defence this time around as he will also aim to climb in the list of players with most sixes in T20 World Cup. Buttler has so far smacked 33 maximums in 27 matches he has played for his country. He has mustered 799 runs at an average of 42.05 and an impeccable strike rate of 144.48. 4. Yuvraj Singh (India)

India’s sixer king Yuvraj Singh is at the fourth place in the list of players with most sixes in T20 World Cup. The southpaw bossed the bowlers in 28 innings he batted at the event during his storied career and smashed 33 sixes. Overall, Yuvraj scored 593 runs at a strike rate of almost 129 with four fifties to his name. Having retired from international cricket long back, the left-hander will remain with as many sixes and could get surpassed by Virat Kohli soon.

5. Shane Watson (Australia)

Australia’s marauder with the bat, Shane Watson was a beast in T20 cricket. He smacked a stunning 31 sixes in the mega event and is at the fifth place currently in the list of players with most sixes in T20 World Cup history. The Aussie batted played only 24 matches scoring 537 runs at a strike rate of almost 141 with five half-centuries to his name.

6. David Warner (Australia)

David Warner is set to play his last T20 World Cup this year. Bowling first, Mitchell Starc got them off to a perfect start by knocking over Travis Head on the second ball. KKR openers provided them a quick start before the two Iyers put on an unbroken 97-run stand for the third wicket. Shreyas smashed 58* off 24 while Venkatesh struck 51 not-out in 28 deliveries.

Batting first, SRH lost an early wicket before Rahul Tripathi smashed 37 off 15 deliveries. Travis Head struggled a bit and was dismissed for 34 off 28. Heinrich Klaasen then scored a 34-ball fifty as they reached 175. Defending the total, SRH kept the pressure on before Shahbaz Ahmed picked 3 for 23 in four overs to turn the game in their favour.
