Afghanistan vs England head to head stats and records ODI 2023

The Afghanistan vs England head to head record is in favour of the defending champions England.

Afghanistan and England have faced each other only twice in ODI cricket and both meetings came at the Cricket World Cup, in 2015 and 2019. Unsurprisingly, England have dominated the head to head encounters, winning on both occasions.

England and Afghanistan will be up against each other in their fixture of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The match is scheduled to take place at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on October 15.

England were stunned in their opening match of the tournament, where they lost to New Zealand by nine wickets. Batting first, they posted 282 which New Zealand mowed down in 36.2 overs.

The defending champions bounced back to hammer Bangladesh by 137 runs in the second game at Dharamsala. Dawid Malan struck a superb 140 off 107 deliveries while Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow scored fifties as England posted 364. Reece Topley then starred with 4 for 43 in 10 overs.

Afghanistan lost to Bangladesh in their first match of this World Cup by six wickets. Batting first, they suffered a big collapse and were bowled out for just 156. On Wednesday, they lost to India by eight wickets at Delhi.

Afghanistan posted their highest total in World Cup history while batting first, with 272 runs on the back of Hashmatullah Shahidi's 80 and Azmatullah Omarzai's 62. But it wasn't enough as Rohit Sharma hammered their bowlers for 131 off 84.
