Hong Kong Sixes 2026 Final: Afghanistan Beat Australia as Imran Mir Hits 53 Not Out

Afghanistan won the 2026 Hong Kong Sixes on Sunday 1 November, beating Australia by four wickets in the final at Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok. Imran Mir hit an unbeaten 53 off 14 balls to chase down 116 with five balls to spare, and he was named player of the match.

How the final was decided

Australia chose to bat first and made 115 all out in their six overs. Max Bryant did most of the damage with 44 off 14 balls (four fours, four sixes), and Ross finished on 29 not out off 10. Three Australian batters, Jack Wood, Chris Green and Patrick Dooley, retired out to bring in fresh hitters, which is why the innings is listed as all out. Karim Janat bowled two overs for 27 and a wicket, and Nangeyalia Khan took one for 17.

Afghanistan were 32/2 after 1.4 overs, with Janat (13) and captain Gulbadin Naib (17) both gone. Mir then hit seven sixes in his 53 and shared an unbroken stand of 87 with Farmanullah, who stayed not out on 26 off seven balls with four sixes of his own. The chase ended on 119/2 in 5.1 overs. Dooley and Green took one wicket each but conceded 35 and 30 runs.

Afghanistan had reached the final by beating Scotland by 21 runs in the semi-final, while Australia got past the United Arab Emirates by 53 runs.
