Australia vs Afghanistan head to head have been locking horns against each other in the One-Day International format since 2012. As expected, Australia have dominated the proceedings in the matches against Afghanistan over the years.
The two teams have faced each other only three times thus far in the format with Australia winning all the matches. Afghanistan are yet to register a win and will be looking to turn the tables having performed so well in the ongoing ODI World Cup in India.
Interestingly, the last two encounters between Australia and Afghanistan have happened only in the World Cup with two teams yet to face in a bilateral series. Needless to say, the Aussies dominated the Afghans to win both World Cup matches as well.

The 39th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup is scheduled to take place between Australia and Afghanistan at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on November 7 (Tuesday).
Australia are well on their way to make it to the semifinals having won five matches so far in seven outings. They began their tournament with losses to India and South Africa but have been on a roll since then playing some excellent cricket.
The Pat Cummins-led side is coming off a solid win over England in their previous game and another win here will seal their position in the knockouts as well.
Afghanistan, on the other hand, have already performed well above expectations and are also targeting a semifinal spot. The fact that they are still well and truly alive so deep in the World Cup is already an achievement for them.
But Hashmatullah Shahidi and his men will be eager to take one step towards the knockouts by upsetting the Aussies. They defeated the Netherlands in their last game pretty comfortably and will be keen on carrying the same momentum in this game.
