What did Karthik say about Rauf?

Most of the talk about Pakistan’s pace unit revolves around Shaheen Shah Afridi’s prowess with the new ball. Naseem Shah’s recent injury has been a big talking point naturally. However, Karthik feels that Rauf with his extra pace can be a real wicket-taking threat.

“Haris Rauf is one of the best bowlers in the world, especially in the death overs. He has good variations and a very sharp bouncer, and whenever Shaheen Afridi has not managed to pick up wickets upfront, he is the one who has taken wickets in the middle,” Karthik claimed.

“He is one of the few bowlers in world cricket who consistently strikes in the middle. He has it in him to pick a lot of wickets in this tournament,” the 38-year-old cricketer-turned-commentator added.

Can Pakistan’s spin attack step up in the World Cup?

While Pakistan’s pace attack is firing on all cylinders, the form of the spin attack is a cause for concern. Shadab Khan is supposed to be the leader of the attack and will be supported by Mohammad Nawaz and Usama Mir.

However, as some recent games have shown the Pakistan spinners can let the grip loosen during the middle overs. They will have to be disciplined and add more penetration, even if it is through some rotation and trying new combinations.
