The Pakistan vs Netherlands result in the World Cup 2023 match 2 went expectedly with Babar Azam, and his men emerging victorious.
At one stage, it felt like the Dutch would give Pakistan a run for their money, but Pakistan’s bowlers did well to register a comprehensive win in the end despite not playing their perfect game.
This match took place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad and the crowd witnessed some good cricket from both teams. As far as the match is concerned, Pakistan were bundled out for 286 runs after being put in to bat first.
The Netherlands got off to a brilliant start with the ball nipping out the top order of the opposition for just 38 runs. But the duo Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan scored 68 runs each to rebuild the innings and the lower-middle order did enough to post 286 runs on the board though Pakistan didn’t bat the entire quota of their overs.
In response, Vikramjit Singh and Bas de Leede kept the Dutch in the hunt in the chase for quite some time before imploding in the second half of their chase. Both Singh and De Leede scored half-centuries before the Netherlands collapsed to get bowled out for 205 runs in 41 overs as Pakistan won the match by 81 runs.

Pakistan vs Netherlands result: Pakistan won by 81 runs
The second match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 saw Pakistan putting up not perfect but a decent enough performance against the Netherlands to win by 81 runs.
Match Highlights
Pakistan’s innings: Pakistan lost their top-order including Babar Azam cheaply and were in trouble at 38/3 at one stage. But then Rizwan and Shakeel scored half-centuries coupled with vital contributions from Mohammad Nawaz (39) and Shadab Khan (32) to power them to 286 runs. Bas de Leede was the top bowler for the Netherlands returning with figures of 4/62.
Netherlands’ chase: The Dutch lost a couple of wickets with just 50 runs on the board but then followed a 70-run stand between Vikramjit Singh and De Leede that kept them in the hunt. However, once that partnership was broken, all of Pakistan’s bowlers contributed to the victory picking up wickets at regular intervals. De Leede played a fighting hand of 67 runs to back up his four-wicket haul but his efforts went in vain.
Pakistan’s performance: Pakistan were somewhat exposed today in testing conditions. None of their batters could convert starts while their top order looked a bit clueless at one stage. With the ball too, they looked flat when a partnership was built and were actually lucky that Shadab broke it dismissing Vikramjit off a long hop. They will have to play much better against top teams if they wish to make it to the semis.
Man of the Match | Pakistan vs Netherlands Result
Saud Shakeel was named the Man of the Match in this encounter thanks to his counterattacking knock when Pakistan were in trouble. He smashed 68 runs off just 52 balls with 9 fours and a six to his name. It was an enterprising knock given the situation and it gave momentum to Pakistan’s innings.
