Pakistan began the World Cup with an 87-run victory over the Netherlands and went on to beat Sri Lanka by six wickets. Their first loss came against arch-rivals India, losing by seven wickets. They then lost to Australia by 62 runs but the biggest shock for them was losing to Afghanistan at Chennai. Pakistan posted 282 while batting first on the back of Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique's fifties. But the bowling unit could not make any impact as Afghanistan chased down the target with eight wickets in hand.
South Africa will look to continue their dominant run in the tournament while for Pakistan, it's do or die. One more defeat could be the end of their semifinal chances so expect a closely fought contest on Friday.
