Jasprit Bumrah unfollows Mumbai Indians after cryptic story

Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah sparked the internet with a cryptic story which he posted on his Instagram handle.

He posted a story with the caption, “Sometimes silence is the best answer”, which left a lot of fans wondering what was happening with the fast bowler.

Jasprit Bumrah, an all-format star of the Indian men’s cricket team, has yet to make any public appearance since the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 came to an end. India had lost the final to Australia in Ahmedabad, which saw Bumrah’s 20-wicket haul in the edition go in vain.

While all the players were left deflated after the loss, the attention quickly shifted to the five-match T20I series against Australia. Soon after, the IPL retention saga took over, largely led by the news of Hardik Pandya returning to Mumbai Indians after a two-year stay with Gujarat Titans.

With Bumrah putting up this context-less story out of the blue, many fans believe this story is related to his future in the Indian Premier League. Adding further fuel to these speculations is that the 29-year-old unfollowed his current franchise Mumbai Indians on Instagram.

What do the internet theories say about Jasprit Bumrah news?

The nternet has come up with brand new theories in a short span of time regarding this piece of Jasprit Bumrah news. Some believe that he is upset with the Mumbai Indians management for not showing trust in him to be the future captain of the franchise, if and when Rohit Sharma decides to give up that role.

It is being widely speculated that Sharma will not play the IPL for long and Pandya was roped in with a view to hand him the MI captaincy. Pandya, who led Gujarat Titans to two finals in a row, including a title in 2022, is currently the numero uno choice to become the deputy to Sharma in 2024.

While Bumrah’s experience with captaincy is not significant, he led India in a Test match against England in 2022. Just the way Pandya made his way out of Gujarat Titans, speculations have already begun that Bumrah might force his way to another franchise via a trade, although it seems very unlikely at this point.

There’s another section of the internet which believes all of this is not related to cricket. Some X users have added that Bumrah never followed the Mumbai Indians or the Indian cricket team’s official pages, and hence this is not worthy of being news.

While one set of rumours suggests Jasprit Bumrah might make a move to the Royal Challengers Bangalore, a few others say he may head in the opposite direction as Hardik Pandya and join Gujarat Titans.

Most Mumbai Indians fans on social media disapprove of this latest development as anything serious.

Jasprit Bumrah was brought to the limelight by the Mumbai Indians scouting team and made his IPL debut in 2013. Since then, he went on to become a huge part of the franchise and the Indian team as well.

The MI paltan, as the fans of the franchise are called, are hopeful that the fast bowler will remain loyal and move away.
