Are you looking for Lord’s Stadium records? If you, then you are at the right place. The beautiful venue in London is all set to host the second Test of the ongoing Ashes from June 27 onwards. The Lord’s hosted the first international match way back in July 1984 when England and Australia locked horns.

England won the match by an innings and five runs. It was the 15th Test match to be played overall. Allan Steel was the star of the show for the hosts after he scored 148 runs. George Ulyett was the pick of the bowlers for England after he finished with figures of 39.1-23-36-7. Joey Palmer of Australia picked up six wickets in England’s first innings, but his efforts could not pay dividends.

Australia and England also played in the first ODI at the venue back in August 1972. Australia beat England by five wickets. Greg Chappell became the Player of the Match for scoring 48 runs and picking up the crucial wicket of Keith Fletcher.

England and Netherlands played in the first ever T20I at the venue back in the 2009 World T20. Netherlands won the match by four wickets after chasing down 163. Tom de Grooth won the award for the Player of the Match after he scored 49 runs off 30 balls with six fours and a six in the Dutch team’s run-chase.

Lord’s Stadium last match in Test, ODI and T20I

As per Lord’s Test records, England and Ireland played in the last Test at the venue and the home team won by 10 wickets. Ireland were bowled out for 172 in their first innings, but they fought hard in their innings to make the hosts bat again.

Ollie Pope became the Player of the Match after he scored 205 runs off 208 balls with the help of 22 fours and three sixes. Ben Duckett scored 182 off 178 and also broke Don Bradman’s record of the fastest 150 at the venue in London.

Joe Root scored 56 and also became only the second English batter after Alastair Cook to score 11000 runs in Test cricket. Stuart Broad was the standout batter for the British team after he picked up a five-wicket haul in the first innings.

England’s match against India back on July 14, 2022, was the last ODI played at the Lord’s. England won the game by 100 runs after bowling India out for 146 in 38.5 overs. Reece Topley ripped through the Indian batting unit by finishing with figures of 9.5-2-24-6. The left-arm seamer also won the Player of the Match award.

Nepal and Netherlands’ T20I back on July 29, 2018, was the last international match in the 20-over format at the Home of Cricket. In Match No.3 of the Marylebone Cricket Club Tri-Nation series, Netherlands sored 174 for the loss of four wickets in 16.4 overs.

Wesley Barresi top-scored for them with a 44-run knock. Ryan ten Doeschate, Michael Rippon and Scott Edwards chipped in with valuable contributions. Barring left-arm spinner Lalit Rajbanshi, all the other Nepalese bowlers leaked runs at an economy of over 10. Thereafter, rain interrupted proceedings and the match had to be called off.

Highest team score at Lord’s Stadium

The highest score recorded as per the Lord’s Stadium records is 729/6 (declared) by Australia against England way back in 1930. Sir Don Bradman scored 254 runs off 376 balls with 25 fours. Opening batter and skipper Bill Woodfull also made 155 off 391.

On the back of their knocks, Australia amassed a massive lead of 304 runs in their first innings. The Aussies went on to win the match by seven wickets and made it 1-1 in the five-match series.

As per Lord’s Stadium records, England hold the record for the highest team score in ODIs at the venue. Back in the 1975 World Cup, Mike Denness’s men racked up 334 for the loss of four wickets in 60 overs. Denniss Amiss scored 137 off 147 and won the Player of the Match award. England won the match by 202 runs after India only scored 132 for the loss of three wickets.

West Indies hold the record of the highest team score in T20Is as per the Lord’s Stadium records. The Caribbean team put up a big score of 199 for four against Shahid Afridi’s World XI. Carlos Brathwaite’s men went on to win the match by 72 runs.

Lowest team score at Lord’s Stadium

As per Lord’s Stadium records, Ireland hold the record of the lowest score at the venue. Back in 2019, Ireland scored 38 in 15.4 overs against England, who went on to win the match by 143 runs. Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad made sure that they did not give their opponents much of a chance in the 182 chase. Even as Woakes picked up six wickets for 17 runs, Broad returned with a four-wicket haul.

Back in July 2003, South Africa recorded the lowest ODI score at the Lord’s. The Proteas scored only 107 runs in 32.1 overs. England chased down the target with 178 balls to spare and won the match by seven wickets.

Back in the 2009 World T20, Netherlands recorded the lowest T20I team score at the Lord’s Cricket Stadium. After being asked to chase down 176, the Dutch team was bowled out for 93 in 17.3 overs.

Highest run chase at Lord’s

As per Lord’s Test records, back in June 1984, West Indies recorded the highest successful run-chase in Tests at the Lord’s. After being asked to chase down a mammoth score of 342, West Indies lost the early wicket of Desmond Haynes through a runout, but they did not look back from there on.

Gordon Greenidge and Larry Gomes put on an unbeaten partnership of 287 runs to take the Caribbean team past the finish line. Greenidge went on to score 214 runs off 242 balls with 29 fours and one six. Gomes stayed not out on 92 with 13 fours.

Back in 2022, India recorded the highest run-chase in ODIs at Lord’s in the final of the Natwest Trophy. After being asked to chase down 326, India got reduced to 146 for five. However, Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif scored 69 and 87 not out respectively to take India past the finish line. India won the match by two wickets with three balls to spare.

Netherlands chased down 163 against England in the World Cup 2009 and it remains to be the highest successful run-chase in T20Is at the Lord’s. All three wins by chasing teams at the Lord’s came in 2009 itself.

Lord’s Stadium all-time leading run-scorers

The legendary Graham Gooch is the leading run-scorer in Tests at the venue as per Lord’s Test records. The veteran scored 2015 runs from 21 matches at an average of 53.02 with six hundreds and five fifties to show for his efforts. He also has a top score of 333 at Lord’s that he got against India back in July 1990.

Former left-handed batter Marcus Trescothick is the leading run-scorer at the Lord’s in ODIs. The veteran has scored 595 runs from 13 matches at an average of 49.58 and a strike-rate of 79.33 with three centuries and two fifties to his name. He got his top score of 137 against Pakistan back in June 2001.

Former Sri Lankan captain Mahela Jayawardene is the leading run-scorer in T20Is at the Lord’s. The right-hander has scored 98 runs from three games at an average of 32.66 and a strike-rate of 130.66 with a top score of 78.

Lord’s Stadium all-time leading wicket-takers

James Anderson is the leading wicket-taker in Tests at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. The pacer, who is past his 40s, has picked up 117 wickets from 27 matches at an average of 24.58 with seven five-wicket hauls to his name.

Fast bowler Darren Gough has the most wickets at the Lord’s. The former speedster picked up 27 wickets from 16 matches with a five-wicket haul to his name against Australia to show for his efforts.

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi is the top wicket-taker at the Lord’s. The leg-spinner picked up eight wickets from four matches with best figures of 4/11 against the Netherlands back in the 2009 World T20.
