However, one man who gave a glimpse into India’s bright future was Yashasvi Jaiswal. The young southpaw failed in the first innings after he scored 10 runs before Mark Wood dismissed him. But in the second, Jaiswal showed why he is deemed as one of the brightest talents in Indian cricket.
Opening the batting, Jaiswal stayed not out on 214 runs off 236 balls with the help of 14 fours and 12 sixes. On the back of his knock, India set the Three Lions a massive target of 557 to chase down.
From there on, India dominated and bowled their opponents out for 122 in 39.4 overs. Once Ben Duckett got run out after a terrible mix-up with his opening partner Zak Crawley, England were unable to put India under any sort of pressure.

Mark Wood threw his bat around to score 33 runs off 15 balls with 6 fours and a six, taking England past the 100-run mark. However, it was only to delay the inevitable.
India were under pressure after they lost the Hyderabad Test by 28 runs to go 0-1 down in the series. But with 2 comprehensive wins on the trot, Rohit Sharma’s men are well and truly on the driver’s seat going into the remainder of the series.
As far as Jaiswal is concerned, he joined several legendary cricketers in elite clubs after he scored the stupendous double hundred.
Records set by Yashasvi Jaiswal in the Rajkot Test
1 – India recorded their biggest win in Test cricket by margin of runs. Their previous biggest win by 372 runs came against New Zealand back in December 2021 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

12 – Yashasvi Jaiswal equalled Wasim Akram’s record of most sixes in an innings in Test cricket. Back in 1996, Akram broke Wally Hammond’s 63-year-old record and 28 years later, Jaiswal joined him in the elite club.
The southpaw, however, broke Navjot Singh Sidhu’s 30-year-old record for India in the same category. Back in 1994, Sidhu hit 8 sixes against Sri Lanka in Lucknow.
