2007 World Cup T20 India vs Pakistan

India met Pakistan twice in the inaugural T20 world cup and on both occasions, India came on top. The first meeting was in Durban on the 14th of September. The match was tied with both the teams scoring 141 runs in the allotted 20 over. Bowl out was used to decide the winner where the teams had five players hitting stumps and the one who scored more than the other wins. India hit the stumps in the initial three attempts while Pakistani players weren't able to hit any. Bowl out is now replaced by super over to decide the tied games.

Pakistan again met with India in the finals and went on to win a nerve-wracking game by 5 runs. It was Mahendra Singh Dhoni's first tournament as Indian Captain and he announced his arrival to the captaincy by winning the competition at Pakistan's expense. He later went on to become one of the most successful captains of India in all forms of cricket. On the other hand Pakistani captain Shoaib Malik has still not retired from cricket and he can be a part of the T20 World cup 2022 campaign.

2009 World Cup T20 India vs Pakistan

The next T20 World Cup was held in England in 2009. India and Pakistan had very contrasting campaigns this time around. While India topped the group they were not able to win any game in the super 8 which saw them depart from the tournament before the semi-finals. Pakistan on the other hand came back strongly from their last world cup finals defeat and went on to win the tournament. 2010 World Cup T20 India vs Pakistan

The third edition of the world cup took place in West Indies in 2010. Both India and Pakistan did not have a good tournament with the former ending the tournament in the same way as last time, winning all games in their group but failing to win even one in super eights. Pakistan had a better tournament than India with them crashing out in Semi-Finals against Australia. The next edition of the World Cup was held in Sri Lanka in 2012. Pakistan again had a comparatively better campaign than India after India got out in Super eight and Pakistan went on to the semi-finals. Pakistan and India were placed in the same super eight groups and India got the better of them. India won by eight wickets against their Arch rivals but did not qualify for the semi-finals due to an inferior net run rate than Pakistan and Australia.

Virat Kolhi played a match-winning inning of 78 not out in the game against Pakistan and silenced all his critics who were blaming him for not performing in the big games. This game was one of the rare one sides games played out between India and Pakistan. West Indies went on to win one of their major tournament since 1979, against hosts Sri Lanka.

The fifth edition of the T20 world cup was being held in Bangladesh. There were 10 teams who played in Super 10s and India and Pakistan were in the same group. Not only did India beat Pakistan once again in the T20 World cup, but they were also the better of the two nations in the whole competition. India went to the finals but was beaten by Sri Lanka in the end who took their revenge for the 2011 ODI World Cup against India.

Pakistan was not able to go past the super 10 stages in the competition. In their game against India, Pakistan was only able to score 130 runs in 20 overs which was chased down by India with seven wickets in hand. Pakistani batters could not play Indian spinners who took full advantage of the spinning wickets in Mirpur.

India hosted the sixth edition of the tournament in 2016. It was the first time India was hosting the tournament. Having been the finalist in the previous competition and with home ground advantage, India was hoping to do well in the competition. India was again placed in the same group as Pakistan in Super tens so fans were excited for India vs Pakistan T20 game in the world cup. India showed no mercy to their rivals and restricted them to only 118 runs in 18 overs.

The star of the show was again Virat Kohli who helped his side cruise home with his brilliant 55 not out. It was India's fifth straight victory against Pakistan in the T20 World cup. India went on to the semi-finals but was shown the exit door by West Indies who went on to win the tournament. Pakistan once again did not qualify for the semis.

The world cup returned after five years since the last one played in 2016. It was supposed to happen in 2020 but was postponed to 2021 due to coronavirus. The competition was held in UAE and Oman. Pakistan and India found themselves in the same group once again and played in the first game of the super 10 stages. Unlike other occasions, Pakistan went on to smash India out of the park in all departments and registered their first win over India in any World Cup.

After a magnificent spell by Shaheen Shah Afridi restricting India to 151 runs, Pakistan did not even lose a wicket in the run chase and did it effortlessly. Rizwan and Babar scored half-centuries in the process. India never recovered from this loss and crashed out of the tournament without making it to the semi-finals. Pakistan lost to Australia who went on to win the competition.
