Sri Lanka topped group B but were almost knocked out of the tournament by Afghanistan in the second game. Sri Lanka posted 291 on the back of Kusal Mendis' 92 off 84 but the bowling attack was taken apart. Afghanistan came close to chasing down the target in the required 37.1 overs but fell short by two runs.

Sri Lanka and Pakistan have not faced each other in ODIs in nearly four years. They last played an ODI in 2019 in Karachi, when Pakistan came out on top by five wickets to secure the series by 2-0.

Danushka Gunathilaka hit 133 to power Sri Lanka to 297. But Fakhar Zaman, Abid Ali and Haris Sohail smashed fifties as Pakistan chased down the target with 10 balls to spare.
