The greatest successful run chase in IPL 2020 took place on September 27, 2020, at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE, between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab.

The Punjab Kings won the coin toss and chose to bat first. They got off to a flying start, with openers Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul blasting the Royals' bowlers all over the place. They achieved the biggest opening partnership in IPL history, scoring 183 runs for the first wicket. Rahul scored 69 runs off 54 balls, while Mayank scored 106 runs off 50 balls, including 10 fours and seven sixes. Nicholas Pooran put the finishing touches to a wonderful Punjab innings by scoring 25 runs off 8 balls which included 3 sixes.

Punjab King's innings ended at 223 runs for the loss of two wickets, the highest total in IPL history for a side batting first. The Rajasthan Royals had a major task before of them: chase down the target in 20 overs.
