The Punjab Kings won the coin toss and chose to bat first. They got off to a flying start, with openers Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul blasting the Royals' bowlers all over the place. They achieved the biggest opening partnership in IPL history, scoring 183 runs for the first wicket. Rahul scored 69 runs off 54 balls, while Mayank scored 106 runs off 50 balls, including 10 fours and seven sixes.
