In Match 2 of the VIVO IPL, MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings were up against Delhi Capitals led by young Rishabh Pant. It was touted as a clash between the master and his apprentice. However, it was the apprentice, Pant, and his team that proved too good for Chennai Super Kings in CSK vs DC Yesterday's IPL match. Delhi inserted CSK to bat first and restricted the Yellow army to a par total of 188 runs. The Delhi batters, especially Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw made light work of the chase as Delhi cruised their way to a 7-wicket win with 8 balls to spare.

After being asked to bat first, it was a horrendous start for Chennai as they lost both their openers in quick succession. Suresh Raina, who walked in at No.3, took his own time before shifting through the gears after missing the last IPL season. The duo of Moeen and Raina made some quick runs before Ali was dismissed by Ashwin. Raina continued on his merry way to notch up yet another IPL fifty for CSK in yesterday's IPL match against Delhi.

A few wickets in the middle-overs were a cause of concern for the ‘Men in Yellow' before Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja hitting powered CSK to 188 in their 20 overs. Curran walloped a 15-ball 34 and was well supported by Jadeja 27 off just 17 balls. It was only a par score considering the history of chasing at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.
Dhawan-Shaw make hay, Delhi win by 7 wickets
Chasing a huge total of 189, Delhi openers didn't break a sweat in capitalizing in the first six overs. Shaw was an early aggressor before Dhawan too joined the party to plunder 65 runs in the powerplay. The duo added 138 runs for the first wickets to rule the opposition out of the match. While Shaw scored 72, Dhawan ended with a Man of the Match performance in turning the Yesterday IPL match result in Delhi's favor. In the end, Delhi Capitals comfortably won by 7 wickets to kickstart their 2021 IPL campaign with a win.
