Delhi Capitals need to pull up their socks if they want to get anywhere close to the playoffs. The loss of Rishab Pant seems to be a huge one. In Spite of David Warner still churning out the runs for the Capitals, he has lacked support. The loss of form from Prithvi Shaw and Mitchel Marsh has really hampered the chances of this team. However, they are still a quality side with quality players and will look to bounce back as soon as possible.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders have had quite a mixed start to this IPL season. They have had some fantastic and memorable wins under their belt, but whenever they have lost the game they have been outplayed in every department.  They will want to start a consistent run and will be hoping to take advantage of the bad run of form of the Delhi Capitals. Venkatesh Iyer looks in fabulous form, scoring just the second hundred for a KKR player after Brendon McCullum’s infamous century in the first ever game of the IPL. They will want their bowlers to also join in the party and get amongst the wickets.

The weather will be perfect for the game of cricket, as it will get cooler in the evening after a humid afternoon. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be in the 37°C – 24°C range.

We are backing the Kolkata Knight Riders to win this contest. They have found a good and balanced side, with most of their players starting to find form. The bowlers will find it a bit difficult with the shorter boundaries but the spinners will have a part to play.

The batsmen will surely have a field day. The short boundaries and the flat batting wicket will make run scoring pretty easy and they will be expected to score big runs.

We would recommend having Venkatesh Iyer as your Captain, as we feel he is in magnificent form and will continue it in this game too. We feel that in spite of the several disadvantages to the bowlers, Lockie Ferguson will pick up crucial wickets at the start and the death overs.

As much as Delhi Capitals will want a win under their belt, we feel Kolkata Knight Riders will beat Delhi Capitals. The form of the players is a huge factor as KKR look like the side which are in really good form.

With the pitch remaining true in both innings, the small boundaries and the dew factor coming into play in the 2nd innings, it is a no-brainer for Kolkata Knight Riders to win the toss and bowl first. They will back themselves to chase down a target given the conditions are favorable to do so. 

Man of the match prediction: Venkatesh Iyer

Venkatesh Iyer has been in sublime form in this IPL. Fresh of a century he will want to continue this form against the Capitals too. He will want to make the most of the smaller boundaries and the belter of a batting track.

Delhi Capitals are placed at 2.00 and the Kolkata Knight Riders at 1.83. The contrasting results in the campaign openers for the respective sides might be why Delhi Capitals is the underdog in this contest.
