5. Chris Gayle (17 balls vs PWI, 2013)
Chris Gayle is the Greatest of All-time as far as T20 cricket is concerned. The Southpaw got into his own in a league match against Pune Warriors India in IPL 2013 at Bengaluru's M.Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Jamaican player registered the highest individual IPL score with a tally of 175* runs in a mere 66 balls.
In process, Gayle also registered his fastest fifty in the IPL taking only 17 balls to claim the landmark. His stellar show propelled RCB to the highest team score in the IPL. Gayle's innings ensured that the home team annihilated the opposition with a thumping 130-run win. In IPL 2013, Chris also scored most runs for RCB and finished second overall in the entire competition with 708 runs.
4. Suresh Raina (16 balls vs PBKS, 2014)
Playing for a place in the IPL Final 2014, Suresh Raina played one of the most prolific IPL innings against Punjab in the Qualifier 2 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. While chasing a big target of 227, Raina came out to bat at number three for CSK. He played a terrific knock of 87 runs in 25 balls with a strike rate of 348.
With 12 fours and six towering sixes, Raina reached his individual fifty in just 16 deliveries. It was an exhibition of tremendous stroke-making coupled with timing and precision. However, the southpaw's stay at the crease came to an unfortunate end due to a run-out. Chennai Super Kings fell agonizingly close as Punjab made it to their first ever IPL final.
3. Sunil Narine (15 balls vs RCB, 2017)
Kolkata Knight Riders, under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir, managed to utilize the batting potential of Sunil Narine quite efficiently in the IPL. The Caribbean all-rounder to open the innings against RCB as a pinch hitter in IPL 2017.
Narine was equal to the task as he smashed the RCB bowlers to all parts of the ground. Surprisingly, Narine also equalled the record for the then fastest fifty in the IPL. He used only 15 balls to reach his maiden maiden IPL fifty. His attacking knock in the powerplay took away the game from Kohli-led RCB and completed the chase inside 15 overs.
2. Yusuf Pathan (15 balls vs SRH, 2014)
In their last league match in IPL 2014, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opted to field first against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). In order to finish in the first two spots in the Points Table, KKR had a task of chasing the total inside 15.2 overs. With 161 runs to get, Yusuf Pathan turned the game on its head when he walked into bat at No.4 for the home team.
He played a match-winning knock of 72 runs in just 22 balls including 7 huge sixes. Pathan used his power-hitting to the fullest to guide his team to a memorable victory. During his knock of 72*, Yusuf also managed to own the record for the then fastest fifty in the IPL. He consumed only 15 balls to overhaul the fifty-run mark as KKR chased down the total in 14.2 overs.
1. KL Rahul (14 balls vs DC, 2018)
KL Rahul holds the current record for the fastest fifty in IPL. The now Punjab Kings skipper was in sublime form during 2018 when he claimed a 14-ball fifty against Delhi Capitals. The opener took the attack to the Delhi new ball bowlers in the powerplay.
Rahul's whirlwind innings propelled Punjab to a rollicking start in the season. The home team registered an easy win over Delhi by 6 wickets. It was a dream year for the 29-year old as he ended the season with a mammoth tally of 659 runs in the season.
