IPL teams after auction:Full list of squads for 2024 IPL

The much-awaited Indian Premier League auction ahead of the 2024 season took place at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on December 19 and here are the IPL teams after auction. As many as 72 players were sold with the franchises splashing a massive amount of INR 230.45 crore. A lot of that money was for the overseas players as 30 of them were sold at the event.

Australia’s left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc became the highest-paid player in the history of IPL as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) broke the bank for him. The franchise secured his services for a massive amount of INR 24.75 crore. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad splurged 20.50 crore Rs for Australia’s World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins.

Among Indian players, Harshal Patel was the most expensive with Punjab Kings buying for 11.75 crore winning the bid war with Gujarat Giants and Lucknow Super Giants. Among uncapped players, Sameer Rizvi was the highest paid among IPL teams after auctions with five-time champions Chennai Super Kings successfully getting hold of him for 8.4 crore.

Top five bargain buys at IPL 2024 auction

Interestingly, Australia’s World Cup hero Travis Head didn’t rake in as much amount with SRH managing to get him for INR 6.8 crore. Moreover, New Zealand’s find of the World Cup Rachin Ravindra also didn’t have much interest among teams at the auction table. CSK bought him for just INR 1.8 crore and it is being touted as a massive steal buy for the men in yellow.

Among all other teams, the focus was also on Royal Challengers Bangalore ever since included Cameron Green in trade with Mumbai Indians. They managed to get hold of bowlers like Alzarri Joseph and Lockie Ferguson among a few others. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians’ major pick was South African pace bowler Gerald Coetzee with Rajasthan Royals’ most expensive buy being Rovman Powell at INR 7.4 crore.

While Australian players were among the most sought-after players at the auction, the likes of Steve Smith and Josh Hazlewood also went unsold.

In the end, all IPL teams after auction except Rajasthan Royals (22) and Kolkata Knight Riders (23) managed to complete their squad of 25 players.
