While Rahul began with a decent strike rate, it was Hooda who played the aggressor's role with his wallopping 64-run knock. The Baroda player dominated the RR attack and scores runs at will. Rahul helped himself to a score of 91, falling nine runs short of yet another IPL century. In their 20 overs, PBKS posted 221 runs in the clash against RR.
Samson IPL century goes in vain, PBKS win by 4 runs
On a ground like Wankhede, chasing totals is considered a relatively easy job in hand. However, with 221 runs on the board, the pressure was always on Rajasthan to keep up with the scoring rate of nearly 11 runs in an over. In the worst possible scenario, RR lost Ben Stokes early and kept on losing wickets through the middle overs at regular intervals. Despite that fact, Samson was hammering the bowlers in all parts of the ground in process of claiming the maiden IPL century in 2021. However, the mountain of runs posted by Punjab proved too much for the Royals as the ‘Men in Pink' lost the match by a slender margin of four runs.
