India vs Sri Lanka Odds

After losing out on a chance to beat India in the T20I series, Sri Lanka would’ve hoped to go one better against them in the ODI series. But the gap between the two teams only got wider when they faced each other in the series opener in Guwahati. After being invited to bat first, India got off to a brilliant start thanks to Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma.

The duo stitched a 144-run partnership notching up their respective half-centuries before getting dismissed. Perhaps, Rohit missed out on a well-deserved ton getting out on 83. Virat Kohli then took over the mantle of the innings to smash his 45th ODI ton. His 113-run knock off 87 deliveries with 12 fours and one six helped India post a mammoth total of 373 runs in 50 overs.

In response, Sri Lanka were no match to India with only Pathum Nissanka standing strong. His 72 runs were fluent while opening the innings but with no support at the other end, the visitors lost their way completely. However, Sri Lanka’s skipper Dasun Shanaka stood tall yet again when the chips were down.

Despite win looking impossible, he didn’t give up and put up a stunning fight. Shanaka continued his good run against India smashing a brilliant ton remaining unbeaten on 108 off 88 balls. However, his efforts could only take Sri Lanka to 306/8 falling short by 67 runs in the end and conceded an early lead in the series.

India continue to be the favourites in the second ODI as well given the way they played in the series opener. In the cricket betting odds for today, we have India winning, the odds of which stand at 1.22.

India

The likes of Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav had to sit out of the first ODI for India. But with almost ever player coming up with a good show, Rohit Sharma and the management is unlikely to make any changes to the side for the second ODI. With a steady side, India are in a good place in this ODI series. As such todays match predictions are firmly aligned India's way. They are a better ODI team than Sri Lanka, especially at home as the last game showed, and the cricket betting tips back India for this very reason.

Probable XI: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (WK), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Mohammed Shami, Umran Malik, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka might not make a wholesale of changes only after one loss. But there could be at least one forced change with Dilshan Madhushanka injuring himself. The pacer walked off mid-way through the innings and didn’t return to bowl. Lahiru Kumara and Pramod Madhushan could be his possible replacements. Rest of the XI is unlikely to be tinkered with.

Probable XI: Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis (WK), Charith Asalanka, Dhananjaya de Silva, Dasun Shanaka (C), Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage, Chamika Karunaratne, Kasun Rajitha, Lahiru Kumara/Pramod Madhushan.

Pitch Report and Weather Conditions

There is often something in the pitch for the fast bowlers early on at the Eden Gardens. However, with smaller boundaries and the surface expected to get flatter soon, the batters will enjoy their time in the middle. Though the average first innings score after 32 ODIs at the venue in 245, a lot more runs could be scored. The 300-run mark could be easily breached by the team batting first.

As far as the weather conditions are concerned, it will get cold in the evening. The temperature will hover in the mid-20s during the first innings and is expected to go down upto 17 Degrees by the time the match ends. There's very less chance of rain too, making todays cricket predictions reliable that way. However discretion is advised for todays match predictions with Kolkata's unpredictable weather.
