The second ODI of the three-match series between India and Australia is set to be played on Sunday (March 19). It is a quick turnaround after the series opener at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and is a must-win encounter for Australia who lost the first ODI. However, the Steve Smith-led side will be delighted of the fight they put in while defending 188 runs. On the other hand, India were clinical with the ball but stumbled with the bat only to get home with five wickets in hand.

India vs Australia Odds
Australia always perform well when their backs are against the walls. They ended up winning the five-match series in India back in 2019 after being 0-2 down and the visitors will take inspiration from that comeback. Meanwhile, India will be looking to continue their winning run after breaking the Wankhede jinx the other day where they won an ODI for the first time since October 2011.
It was a brilliant bowling performance after being put into a spot of bother by Mitchell Marsh. The Aussie batter who opened the innings smashed 81 runs off 65 balls. But once he got out, the floodgates opened and wickets fell like a pack of cards. It was Ravindra Jadeja who got the better of Marsh and then sent back Marnus Labuschagne with a brilliant catch.
Then Mohammed Shami got into the action picking up three wickets in three overs of his second spell while Mohammed Siraj did the clean job skittling Australia for just 188 runs. It was supposed to be a straightforward chase but Mitchell Starc made the new ball talk. He picked up three scalps upfront to leave India reeling at 39/4 at one stage.
However, KL Rahul kept his cool and rebuilt the innings, first with Hardik Pandya and then with Ravindra Jadeja to take the side home in a tricky chase. India won the first ODI by five wickets and took a 1-0 lead in the series.
The hosts will now be looking to seal the series in Visakhapatnam itself while Australia will be keen on pulling one back and levelling the series.
India
Ishan Kishan got the opportunity to play in the absence of Rohit Sharma in the first ODI. But he couldn’t perform as expected. Rohit is set to join the team before 2nd ODI and will replace Ishan in the playing XI. The Men in Blue are unlikely to make anymore changes to their winning combination.
Probable XI: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul (WK) Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami
Australia
Australia missed their regular opener David Warner who is expected to be fit in time for the second ODI. If he is fit, then the left-hander could replace Marnus Labuschagne in the playing XI and be back to open the innings with Head as well. With Carey ruled out of the series, Josh Inglis is set to keep his place for the remaining two matches as well.
Probable XI: David Warner/Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Steve Smith (C), Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis (WK), Marcus Stoinis, Cameron Green, Ashton Agar, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Nathan Ellis
Pitch Report and Weather Conditions
The surface at the ACA VDCA Stadium is generally to assist spin bowlers as the match progresses. A score around 260-270 is deemed enough at this venue more often than not. However, it is always a belter early on in the game. But with rain around, there could be a lot of moisture in the pitch that might keep the batters in check as well.
Things are not looking promising at the moment in Visakhapatnam. The forecast is for rain on Saturday as well and the cloud cover will continue to be there on the match day as well. While the rain might relent just for the start of the game, it is expected to rain at 5 PM and that is likely to spoil the game.
