WI vs IND 2nd T20I prediction: Match win, Dream11 and toss – 06/08/2023

West Indies gained an early lead in the five-match series with a four-run win in the opening game. The two teams will now move to the Providence Stadium in Guyana for the second T20I on Sunday, August 6th. We have come up with the WI vs IND 2nd T20I prediction for this fixture.

WI vs IND match preview

West Indies

West Indies managed to edge out India in a close contest in Trinidad by four runs. They had several players contribute to the victory. Nicholas Pooran scored 41 runs in 34 balls while captain Rovman Powell smashed 48 off 32 as they posted 149 runs on the board on a pitch that wasn't easy to time the ball.

Defending the target, Jason Holder was the star for the hosts with 2 for 19 in four overs. Romario Shepherd and Obed McCoy also bagged two wickets each while Akeal Hosein conceded just 17 for a wicket in his four overs. Shepherd was tasked with defending 10 off the final over and he did it with ease against the tail.

Talking about their playing XI In this WI vs IND prediction, the home side went with four pace options in the first T20I but could make one change. Guyana is a spin-friendly venue and Alzarri Joseph could make way for off-spinning all-rounder Roston Chase.

WI Possible 11: Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Johnson Charles (wk), Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell (c), Romario Shepherd, Akeal Hosein, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Obed McCoy

India

India have a pretty young squad for this series. They will be hoping to turn things around in the second game. The first game saw their bowlers do a fantastic job to restrict the opponents to just 149. Yuzvendra Chahal landed an early couple of blows while Arshdeep Singh also bagged two wickets. Kuldeep Yadav picked 2 for 20 in his four overs.

Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill couldn't produce a good start while chasing the target while Suryakumar Yadav could only make a run-a-ball 21. Tilak Varma was mighty impressive on his debut, blasting 39 runs off just 22 balls. Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson looked like getting the side closer but both fell in the 16th over. Axar Patel was dismissed in the penultimate over to end the hopes.

To discuss how India's playing XI could shape up in this WI vs IND prediction, we believe they are likely to remain unchanged. Bowlers did well in the previous game so there's no need for a change. Only possible change could be Yashasvi Jaiswal coming in for Ishan Kishan.

IND Possible 11: Ishan Kishan (wk), Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (c), Sanju Samson (wk), Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal

WI vs IND Dream11 prediction

Our WI vs IND Dream11 predictions for this match

Let's now discuss why we have picked the above fantasy team in this WI vs IND Dream11 prediction. Nicholas Pooran has been in ridiculous form and picking him is a no-brainer. Suryakumar Yadav is amongst the best batters in the T20 arena and you simply can not leave him out. Both these players are also amongst the top captaincy options.

Ishan Kishan struggled in the last game but had scored three back to back fifties in the ODI series and had a pretty good IPL campaign earlier this year. If Kishan isn't picked by India, you can go with his likely replacement Yashasvi Jaiswal who did well in the Test series.

Shubman Gill scored 85 in the third ODI but failed in the first T20I. Despite that, you must pick him as he is capable of scoring big. Tilak Varma was the best batter on display across two sides in the opening game. He did that on his debut, scoring 39 off 22 deliveries.

From the all-rounders, we have picked Hardik Pandya, Jason Holder and Kyle Mayers. The presence of three left handers in the West Indies line-up and Hardik bowling reduces Axar Patel's impact so we have left him out. Kyle Mayers only needs a few deliveries to make you regret not picking him while Jason Holder was superb in the previous game, and could be effective here as well.

Akeal Hosein's left-arm spin should be effective on this pitch in Guyana. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal both have the ability to run through the Windies batting line-up.

Coming to the captaincy, Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal and Nicholas Pooran are top options. We are backing Kuldeep Yadav as the captain considering the Guyana pitch and how he has troubled the hosts so far. Pooran has been in superb touch and has a great record in Guyana with 370 runs at 46 average and 174 strike rate. He will be our vice-captain.

WI vs IND 2nd T20I match prediction: India to win

India fell short by only four runs despite most of their batters not finding rhythm. They have a pretty good bowling unit and expect batters to put up an improved effort. As for the recent head to head record, India have won seven of the last 10 encounters between the two sides. Our WI vs IND match prediction is for India to win.

WI vs IND toss prediction: India to win the toss and bowl first

Providence Stadium in Guyana is a venue where chasing sides have had more success. Out of 48 T20s, the team batting second has won 27 games. India, in particular, prefers chasing the target in white-ball cricket. Our WI vs IND toss prediction for the second T20I is that West Indies will win the toss and bowl first.

Man of the match prediction: Kuldeep Yadav to win

Our WI vs IND prediction for the man of the match is for Kuldeep Yadav to win. The left arm wrist spinner is one bowler who has made life hard for West Indies batters on this tour. He took seven wickets in the ODI series and picked 1/20 in the opening T20I. Kuldeep has taken 47 wickets from 29 T20Is at a strike rate of 13.

WI vs IND 2nd T20I betting odds

As per the WI vs IND betting odds, India remain huge favourites to win the second T20I. They have the odds of 1.45 to win this match. West Indies are set bigger odds at 2.76, meaning they have a lesser chance of winning this game.
