Muttiah Muralitharan, the highest wicket-taker in cricket history, has his say on which teams are likely to win the upcoming ODI World Cup in India.

The Lankan spin wizard has a cricket brain as sharp as his turning off-spinners and he believes that the condition will massively favour the Asian teams. Thus India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are all in with a chance according to the great man.

“In our conditions, the Asian teams are better teams than those two (England and Australia) sides. Conditions matter—you are playing in India, not in England or New Zealand. The last time England won on home turf.
But now they are getting beaten by New Zealand in T20Is. India and Pakistan will have a good chance; Sri Lanka is playing well, as is Bangladesh. Asian countries have a good chance,” Murali claimed as per PTI reports.
Muralitharan believes Team India can go all the way
The demon of the doosra also accepted the fact that World Cups are unpredictable by their very structure, so nothing can be discounted entirely. However, the Sri Lankan ace still believes that Team India have a great opportunity to repeat history on their home soil.

“Every team has its strengths and weaknesses. A World Cup is something that nobody can predict—when you come to knockouts, it is very hard. All teams are good; they would have covered their bases from the matches they have played.
But if you ask (me), India has a better chance because they are playing at home,” the Lankan legend expressed his opinion.
The World Cup will get underway on October 5 as defending champions England will face New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
