The 31st match of the ongoing World Cup in India witnessed the Pakistan vs Bangladesh result being another of those one-sided clashes. Babar Azam's Pakistan finally broke their four-match losing streak at the World Cup and climbed to the fifth position in the points table, while Bangladesh became the first team to be officially knocked out of the tournament following their sixth loss in a row.
Pakistan's net run rate has also improved significantly as Bangladesh didn’t even put up a fight defending their modest total of 204.
As far as the match is concerned, Bangladesh opted to bat first after winning the toss and were always behind the game. They never recovered after two quick wickets to Shaheen Afridi. However, Mahmudullah scored a half-century while Shakib and Litton Das scored valuable 40s which took their team’s total to 204 before they were bowled out in the 46th over.
In response, Pakistan were always on track in the chase thanks to a fresh approach from Fakhar Zaman who returned to the playing XI at the expense of Imam-ul-Haq. Abdullah Shafique and Fakhar’s half-centuries meant that Pakistan chased down the target of 205 runs in the 33rd over itself with seven wickets in hand.
