The Asia Cup winners list consists of three teams. India are top of the Asia Cup winners list, having won the title eight times.
The team, led by Rohit Sharma, will now be looking to win their ninth title and tighten their grip on top of the Asia Cup winners list.
Sri Lanka are second in the Asia Cup winners list. The Islanders have won the tournament seven times. They are, in fact, the defending champions, having beaten Pakistan last year in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Pakistan have won the tournament two times and are third in the Asia Cup winners list. Bangladesh have made their way through to three finals thus far in the championship, but failed to win the title.
Even as they lost to India in 2016 and 2018, they went down to Pakistan in 2012.

Here is the Asia Cup winners list from 1984 to 2022
India – 1984
India, captained by Sunil Gavaskar, won the inaugural edition of the Asia Cup in 1984. India won both their matches in the tournament and opened their account in the Asia Cup winners list.
Only three teams took part in the first season. They beat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets after which they handed Zaheer Abbas' Pakistan a 54-run defeat.
Sri Lanka – 1986
Sri Lanka, led by Duleep Mendis, won the tournament and registered their name in the Asia Cup winners list. They finished second in the points table with two points and a net run rate of 3.796.
In the final, Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by five wickets at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo.
India – 1988
India took the lead in the Asia Cup winners list after winning the title for the second time. The team, captained by Dilip Vengsarkar, finished second in the table with eight points and a net run rate of +4.491 thanks to wins in two out of three matches.
India beat Sri Lanka in the final by six wickets at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. Navjot Sidhu won the Player of the Match award for scoring 76 off 87 balls.
India – 1990
India extended their lead in the Asia Cup winners list after winning the title for the third time in 1990. The team, led by Mohammad Azharuddin, finished second in the table in the league stage with two points and a net run rate of +4.222.
They lost to Sri Lanka by 36 runs in the league stage, but returned the favour with a seven-wicket win in the final at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

India – 1995
India won their fourth title in 1985 and kept extending their lead in the Asia Cup winners list. The team, captained by Azharuddin, finished on top of the table with four points and a net run rate of +4.701.
They beat Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the final at the Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium. Azharuddin became the Player of the Match after he scored an unbeaten 90 off 121 balls.
Sri Lanka – 1997
After 13 years, Sri Lanka added to their tally in the Asia Cup winners list. The team, captained by Arjuna Ranatunga, won all three of their matches in the league stage with a net run rate of 1.035.
They went on to beat India by eight wickets in the final at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Marvan Atapattu became the Player of the Match after he scored 84 off 101, helping the Lankans chase down 240 with 13.1 overs to spare.
Pakistan – 2000
2000 was special for Pakistan, who added to the Asia Cup winners list. Pakistan dominated the league stage by winning all three of their matches. A net run rate of +1.920 showed how dominant they were.
The team, captained by Moin Khan, defeated Sri Lanka by 39 runs in the final at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. Atapattu scored a hundred, but his knock went in vain.
Sri Lanka – 2004
Sri Lanka took their tally to three in the Asia Cup winners list after winning the title in 2004. The team, led by Atapattu, finished second in Group B with seven points and a net run rate of +1.040.
In the Super Fours, Sri Lanka finished on top with 13 points. They defeated India by 25 runs in the final at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Atapattu won the award for the Player of the Match after he scored 65 runs off 87 balls. Defending 228, Sri Lanka restricted India to 203 for nine in 50 overs.

Sri Lanka – 2008
Sri Lanka won their fourth title in 2008 and equalled India's tally in the Asia Cup winners list. The team, captained by Mahela Jayawardene, was placed in Group A along with Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
They beat both their opponents and finished on top of the table in the league stage. In the Super Fours, Sri Lanka again finished on top of the table with four points and a net run rate of +1.363.
They defeated India by 100 ruma in the final at the National Stadium in Karachi. Ajantha Mendis became the Player of the Match after he picked up six wickets for 13 runs.
India – 2010
India won the title again in 2010. They finished second in the table in the league stage with nine points and a net run rate of 0.275 thanks to wins in two out of three matches.
They lost to Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the league stage after Farveez Maharoof picked up a five-wicket haul. Rohit Sharma scored 69 runs off 73 balls, but his efforts went in vain.
India, however, beat Sri Lanka by 81 runs in the final at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. Dinesh Karthik won the Player of the Match award after he scored 66 runs off 84 balls.
Pakistan – 2012
Pakistan added to their tally in the Asia Cup winners list by winning the championship for the second time in 2012. The team, led by Misbah-ul-Haq finished on top of the table in the league stage with nine points and net run rate of 0.444 thanks to wins in two out of three matches.
Their final against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium was an absolute humdinger. They won by two runs after restricting Bangladesh to 234 for the loss of eight wickets.
Sri Lanka – 2014
Sri Lanka again equalled India's tally in the Asia Cup winners list after getting their hands on the trophy for the fifth time in 2014. The team, captained by Angelo Mathews, won all four of their matches in the league stage and finished on top of the points table.
Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. Lasith Malinga won the Player of the match award after he picked up five crucial wickets.
Lahiru Thirimanne also scored a hundred and helped Sri Lanka chase down 261 with 22 balls to spare. Fawad Alam scored an unbeaten 114 off 134 balls, but his valiant efforts could not pay dividends.
India – 2016
India won their sixth title in 2016. The tournament was played in the T20 format for the first time keeping in mind the T20 World Cup 2016.
India, led by MS Dhoni, finished on top of the table with 16 points and a net run rate of 2.020 thanks to wins in all four of their matches. But they had to fight hard in the match against Bangladesh.
But in the end, India won the match by five wickets after chasing down 139 with four balls to spare. Virat Kohli won the Player of the Match award after he stayed not out on 56 off 47.

India – 2018
India won the title for the seventh time and extended their lead in the Asia Cup winners list. They topped the Group stage after beating Pakistan and Hong Kong. In the Super Fours, they won two matches against Pakistan and Bangladesh, while their match against Afghanistan ended in a tie.
Their final against Bangladesh turned out to be a humdinger. But in the end, India defeated the Tigers by three wickets. Although he ended up losing, Litton Das won the Player of the Match award for scoring 121 off 117 balls.
Sri Lanka – 2022
Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup for the sixth time. They lost to Afghanistan in their opening game, but beat Bangladesh to advance to the Super Fours.
In the second round, they won all three of their matches and topped the points table. In the final, they beat Babar Azam's Pakistan by 23 runs in Dubai.
After asking Pakistan to chase down 171, they restricted their opponents to 147 in 20 overs.
