Who is better: Kohli or Sharma? Comparing the two captaincy records
After bowling their opponents out for scores under 100, India will be brimming with confidence. They will go into the next match after hammering South Africa by 243 runs at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, also known as the City of Joy.
Virat Kohli celebrated his 35th birthday in the game against South Africa by equalling the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 49 hundreds in ODIs. Ravindra Jadeja picked up five wickets to break the backbone of the Proteas batting.
The trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj kept tormenting oppositions. Siraj also toppled Shaheen Shah Afridi to reclaim the No.1 spot for bowlers in ICC Rankings.
Shubman Gill, in the meantime, overtook Pakistan skipper Babar Azam to claim the No.1 ranking for ODI batter. The 23-year-old also became the second fastest Indian after MS Dhoni to become the top-ranked batter in the 50-over format.
Netherlands, on the other hand, promised when they beat South Africa and the Netherlands against the odds. But their campaign officially came to an end after losing to England by 160 runs on Wednesday at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
With the defeat, the Dutch moved to the bottom of the table with four points and a net run rate of -1.635. They need to win their last match to have any hopes of making their way through to the Champions Trophy to be held in 2023.
