Ahead of the Asian derby in the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, let’s have a look at Pakistan vs Sri Lanka head to head stats and records.
Pakistan began their World Cup campaign with a victory against the Netherlands. It was an expected win for the men in green but there were some hiccups along the way. Sri Lanka on the other hand started their World Cup with a defeat against South Africa.
Batting first, sixties from Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel, and contributions from Mohammad Nawaz and Shadab Khan saw Pakistan post 286 runs. In reply, the Netherlands were always behind the rate and kept losing wickets at regular intervals, despite fifties from Vikramjit Singh and Baas de Leede. Pakistan won by 81 runs eventually.
Sri Lanka was buried under the pile of runs posted by South Africa as Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Markram all picked up tons to help South Africa to 428/5, the highest ever in a World Cup game. In reply, Sri Lanka fought valiantly, as Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka and Dasun Shanaka scored firing half-centuries.
It wasn’t enough though as the Lankan Lions could only score 326 runs before being bowled out for 326 in 44.5 overs, losing the game by 102 runs.

Born to a cricket-crazy father and a writer mother, Jish combined his parents' passions to fuel his own dreams of being a sports journalist. If it's got a scoring system and needs to be written about, chances are this guy has written about it.
