A comprehensive look at every captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad from Kumar Sangakkara to the latest of SRH skippers, Pat Cummins.
Back in 2013, Sunrisers Hyderabad entered as a new team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). SRH was introduced after Deccan Chargers was dissolved following termination for breaching contract times. The Sunrisers retained 20 cricketers from the Chargers. Later, they filled 6 of their remaining 13 slots with players like Clint McKay, Thisara Perera, Daren Sammy, Nathan McCullum, Sudeep Tyagi and Quinton de Kock.
2016 was a significant year in their cricket history after they won the IPL title for the first time. David Warner inspired them to victory after beating Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
SRH hold a unique record as Mustafizur Rahman remains the only overseas cricketer in IPL history to win the Emerging Player award. In the last few seasons, the Sunrisers had to face challenges after they failed to make their way through to the playoffs. However, they remain a strong unit.

Aiden Markram
Aiden Markram has led Sunrisers Eastern Cape to back-to-back SA20 titles, but for SRH, he did not taste success as a skipper. In 13 matches in 2023, Markram could only led them to wins in 4 out of 13 matches.
Pat Cummins
Pat Cummins replaced Markram as the skipper of SRH ahead of the 2024 edition of the IPL. In the auction that took place last year in December, the Sunrisers shelled out a massive price of INR 20.50 crore for Cummins, who led Australia to glory in the WTC 2021-23 and ODI World Cup.
