Royal Challengers Bengaluru suffered a six-wicket defeat in their IPL 2024 season opener against Chennai Super Kings. They got off the mark with a four-wicket win over Punjab Kings in the second game at their home ground. 

Mohammed Siraj and Glenn Maxwell bagged two scalps each to restrict the opponents to 176. Chasing the target, Virat Kohli played a superb knock of 77 in 49 deliveries but the other big names failed. Dinesh Karthik then hit 28 not-out in 10 while Mahipal Lomror struck 17* off 8 to clinch the match.

Kolkata Knight Riders edged past Sunrisers Hyderabad by 4 runs in their first game at Eden Gardens. Batting first, Phil Salt smashed 54 off 40 while wickets fell around him. Ramandeep Singh struck 35 off 17 as he added 55 runs for the fifth wicket with Salt. 

Andre Russell went berserk in the end overs, blasting 64 not-out in just 25 balls to power them to 208. Harshit Rana was the hero with the ball, picking 3 for 33 in four overs and defending 7 off the last five deliveries.

M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is a batting friendly venue due to its flat pitches and short boundaries. The pitch for the last game played here had some help for bowlers but expect a flatter surface for this game. The average first innings score in Bengaluru since 2018 stands at 188.

RCB are favourites as per the market but KKR have won four of the last five games. RCB have hard length bowlers to trouble Kolkata batters whereas KKR have good spinners to counter Bengaluru batters. Varun Chakravarthy is one of the best T20 spinners in the country and is KKR's biggest weapon in the bowling unit versus RCB. He enjoys bowling against Bengaluru as the record suggests. Last season, Chakravarthy claimed 4 for 14 and 3 for 27 in two games against RCB. Overall, he has 13 wickets in eight games versus this opponent at an economy of 6.32.
