Royal Challengers Bengaluru did not have a great start to the IPL 2024 season, taking a six-wicket defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings. The RCB skipper Faf du Plessis got them off to a flying start before they suffered a collapse and were reduced to 78/5. 

Anuj Rawat struck 48 off 25 while Dinesh Karthik made 38* off 26 to help them recover to 173 in 20 overs. Their bowling unit wasn't as effective as CSK remained ahead of the game. Cameron Green bagged two scalps but it wasn't enough as CSK chased down the target with 8 balls to spare.

Punjab Kings kicked off their campaign with a victory over Delhi Capitals by four wickets at Mullanpur. They won the toss and opted to field first. Arshdeep Singh bagged 2 for 28 in four overs while Harpreet Brar snared 1 for 14 in three. But a late cameo from Abishek Porel meant PBKS needed to chase down 175. 

Chasing the total, Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh made quick 20s but it was Sam Curran who went on to play a key knock. He made 63 off 47 deliveries whereas Liam Livingstone an unbeaten 38 off 21 to see his side over the line.

M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is a venue that is known as a paradise for batters and a hell for bowlers. The pitches at this ground are usually very flat and the short boundaries make batting even easier. Since 2018, the average first innings score in Bengaluru stands at 188.

Bengaluru should witness warm and clear weather on Monday evening and rain should not be a concern for this game. The temperature is likely to range between 25-29 degree Celsius in the evening.

Faf du Plessis had an outstanding IPL season last year, amassing 730 runs at an average of 56 while striking at 154. He struck eight fifties in the tournament and was the second highest run-getter. Back du Plessis to continue his form from the first game at this good batting venue.
