Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match preview

Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have found themselves in a very tough spot, having lost five out of six games in the IPL 2024. Their net run-rate of -1.124 means they might have to win all the remaining eight games. In the previous game, RCB took a seven-wicket hammering at the hands of Mumbai Indians.

RCB had a poor start while batting first but Faf du Plessis scored 61 off 40 and Rajat Patidar struck 50 off 26 to bring the innings back on track. Dinesh Karthik then smashed 53 not-out in 23 to help them post 196. The bowling unit, however, had no answers to MI batters who chased down the target in just 15.3 overs.

RCB possible XI: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis (c), Will Jacks, Rajat Patidar, Cameron Green, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Mahipal Lomror, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal, Reece Topley

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad have had a decent start to their campaign, winning three out of five games so far. They have six points and a net run-rate of 0.344. SRH defeated Punjab Kings by just 2 runs in their most recent game.

Batting first, SRH had a terrible start as they lost 4 for 66 at the halfway mark. Heinrich Klaasen was also dismissed cheaply but Nitish Kumar Reddy stepped up big time with 64 off 37 to help the team get 182. Bhuvneshwar Kumar later picked 2 for 32 and Pat Cummins snared 1 for 22 in his four overs as they just about managed to hold off the opponents.

SRH possible XI: Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Abdul Samad, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shahbaz Ahmed, Pat Cummins (c), Jaydev Unadkat, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan

Pitch and expected weather conditions

M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru favours batters courtesy of flat pitches and short boundaries. In three games played here this season, seamers found some help after taking the pace off. The average first innings score at this ground since 2018 reads 188.

The forecast suggests Bengaluru could witness partly cloudy weather on Monday evening. However, rain should not be a threat as there is only 1% chance of precipitation. The temperature is likely to hover around 26 degree Celsius.

Our RCB vs SRH Dream11 prediction for this match

  • Wicketkeeper(s): Heinrich Klaasen, Dinesh Karthik
  • Batter(s): Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head
  • All-rounder(s): Will Jacks, Aiden Markram
  • Bowler(s): Pat Cummins, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Reece Topley
  • Recommended captain: Virat Kohli
  • Recommended vice-captain: Abhishek Sharma

In this part of the RCB vs SRH match prediction, we talk about the reasons for picking this XI for the Dream11 contest. Considering the pitch is likely to be batting friendly, we will pack the side with batters and all-rounders.

Heinrich Klaasen is a must pick while Dinesh Karthik is one of the two in-form players for RCB alongside Virat Kohli. Faf du Plessis, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head bat in the top order and have been in good form. Will Jacks can change the game when he gets going and can not be left out. He also offers dual value. Aiden Markram hasn't been at his best but has still done a decent job. If he is dropped for Glenn Phillips, you should pick Phillips.

From the bowling section, we have Pat Cummins, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Reece Topley. The three pacers are the most in-form amongst all options.

For captaincy and vice captaincy, we are going with Virat Kohli and Abhishek Sharma. Kohli is the leading run-scorer in the tournament while Abhishek Sharma has scored 177 runs from five innings at a strike rate of 208.

Match prediction: Sunrisers Hyderabad to win

Talking about the head-to-head record, Sunrisers Hyderabad are slightly ahead with 12 wins as opposed to 10 by Royal Challengers Bengaluru. As for this season, RCB have been in awful form with issues in both batting and bowling departments. SRH are in a much better form, especially their batting unit with the likes of Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head and Aiden Markram. Our match prediction is for Sunrisers Hyderabad to win.

Toss prediction: Royal Challengers Bangalore to win the toss and field first

M Chinnaswamy Stadium is a venue where chasing is an ideal option as the pitches are good for batting and dew factor further aids the team batting second. Short boundaries means the chasing side always remains in the game. Looking at the overall record in T20 cricket, the team batting second has won 55% of the matches played here. Our toss prediction is that Royal Challengers Bengaluru will win the toss and opt to field first.

Man of the match prediction: Heinrich Klaasen

The South African star has been in the best phase of his career and will be a key figure in this contest. Heinrich Klaasen has made 186 runs from five innings in this season at an average of 62 while striking at 194. He was brutal versus Mumbai Indians, where he blasted 80* off just 34 deliveries. Klaasen needs only a short time to change the game and you can back him to be the player of the match.
