Bowling first, Umesh Yadav took two early wickets while Darshan Nalkande struck twice later to restrict the opponents to 163. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill got them off to a good start with 54 runs inside the powerplay. Gill could only manage 19 off 21 and after his dismissal, GT suffered a massive collapse as they eventually got bowled out for 130.

RR also have a potent bowling unit with a pace trio of Trent Boult, Nandre Burger and Avesh Khan, and a quality spin attack of Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravi Ashwin.
