List of the overseas pacers at IPL 2024 auction who can fetch big money
Mitchell Starc
The focus will be on Mitchell Starc, who is one of the overseas pacers at the IPL 2024 auction. The speedster has played only two seasons of the tournament for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) where he picked up 34 wickets from 27 matches. Since then, he has either pulled out due to national commitments or ruled out due to injury concerns.
The pacer will go under the hammer at a base price starting INR 2 crore. Given his credentials in limited-overs cricket, it would not be a surprise if Starc becomes one of the most expensive bowlers in the auction. One also should not forget that he can also add handy runs lower down the order.
In 121 T20 matches, Starc has picked up 170 wickets at an economy rate of 7.45 with two four-wicket hauls to his name. The seamer recently played a key role in Australia’s victory in the World Cup 2023 on Indian soil. Starc can be a tough customer to deal with at the death because of his ability to bowl Yorkers at will.
Josh Hazlewood
Being one of the overseas pacers at the IPL 2024 auction, Josh Hazlewood is expected to earn big money. The speedster already has prior experience of playing in the IPL, having represented the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He has a base price of INR 2 crore in the auction.
In 27 IPL matches, Hazlewood has picked up 35 wickets at an economy rate of 8.06 with a four-wicket haul to his name. The speedster is known for his accurate line and lengths, which has paid dividends for him across all three formats of the game.
Hazlewood was excellent in World Cup 2023 after he picked up 16 wickets from 11 matches and lent support to Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins. In 96 T20 matches, Hazlewood has picked up 127 wickets at an economy rate of 7.59 with five four-wicket hauls.

Alzarri Joseph – 1 crore
Alzarri Joseph is among the overseas pacers at the IPL 2024 auction who will go under the hammer. Joseph is known for his genuine pace and can rattle the best of batters around the world. Joseph made a mark in the IPL for the first time after he picked up a six-wicket haul for the Mumbai Indians back in the 2019 edition of the tournament.
In 2022, he returned to playing in the IPL after being picked up the Gujarat Titans, then captained by Hardik Pandya. Joseph picked up seven wickets from nine matches in 2022 when the Titans won the title for the maiden time.
In 19 IPL matches, Joseph picked up 20 wickets at an economy rate of 9.19. In 101 T20 matches, he has picked up 121 wickets with three four-wicket hauls and two five-wicket hauls. He has also taken 32 wickets from 19 matches for the West Indies in the T20 format.
Spencer Johnson – 50 lakhs
Spencer Johnson is an upcoming fast bowler, who has the chance of earning the big bucks in the IPL auction. The speedster came to the fore after he played for the Oval Invincibles in the 2023 edition of the Hundred. In one of the matches, the left-arm speedster bowled 19 dot balls out of 20 and showed what he is capable of.
In 20 T20 matches until now, Johnson has picked up 17 wickets at an economy rate of 7.84. On the back of his impressive performance, he was called up to play in the T20I series against South Africa and ODI series against India.
Although he is yet to do anything major in his career, Johnson has shown a lot of promise. He is currently playing for the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League (BBL) 2023-24 and has looked decent.
Johnson is in the auction at a base price of INR 50 lakhs and teams are likely to secure his services for the IPL 2024. Being a left-arm pacer, Johnson can turn out to be an X-factor for whichever team he ends up playing for.
Uncapped IPL players set to get payment boost from BCCI
Dilshan Madushanka – 50 lakhs
Dilshan Madushanka was a surprise package in the 2023 edition of the World Cup in India. The left-arm pacer was stupendous although Sri Lanka flattered to deceive in the tournament after not being able to go beyond the league stage.
Madushanka was once the leading wicket-taker of the World Cup before being toppled by India’s Mohammed Shami and Australia’s Adam Zampa. In nine matches, Madushanka picked up 21 wickets at an economy rate of 6.70 and was a bright spot for Sri Lanka in an otherwise disappointing campaign for them.
Madushanka is one of the overseas pacers at the IPL 2024 auction and has a base price of INR 50 lakhs. The left-arm pacer does not have a lot of experience in T20Is, but franchises may consider the way he bowled in the World Cup.
In 28 T20 matches, Madushanka has taken 29 wickets at an economy rate of 9.13. It should not raise eyebrows if he fetches big money in the auction ahead of some of the more renowned names in thew auction.
